    Default Puppy Needles

I'm a bit confused about how many needles my puppy is meant to get. She had 1 before I purchased her from the breeder, and she's booked in for her 12 week needle this weekend. Is there one they're meant to get about 16 weeks as well as the booster shot?

    Hey Molly,

Many vets recommend that a puppy get a second booster shot around 16 weeks old. I would recommend that your puppy have the second booster shot to be safe.

My pup had one at 6-8 weeks another at 12-14 weeks and she is now due for her final at 16-18weeks.

She is then goes to an annual shot

Puppies get a booster a 6-8 weeks another at 12 weeks and the last at 16 weeks.

You can choose to get the live vaccines or a dead parvo vaccine.

While vets say the dead vaccines are not as effective the live ones could attually harm the puppy if they are not strong enough to deal with.

Also before you decide to get annual shots just because the vaccine companies say you should do your research on them as it can do more harm then good to vaccinate every year. You need to remeber that these vaccines contain live disease in them that can cause anything from Kidney and liver disease to cancer.

Generally if you vaccinate at 6 months when the pups immune systym has developed they can develope a life time immunity.
