Angry GRRR the Attitude is Everywhere!

    OMG seriously!!!

What is with people thinking its ok to just breed dogs willy nilly? It's talked about as if its completely normal. Oh no big deal, just throw 2 dogs together and we'll have puppies, how cute.

My friend who got the lab puppy has been asked by a friend if she is going to breed her because she knows someone who has a male chocolate lab. If they want a pup they should go to a REGISTERED breeder!!! Why have a litter when you only want one? Thankfully she has to get Stellar desexed because it's in the contract, and she doesn't want to anyway.

And when she brought her into work for us to see, a work colleague asked if she is purebred, and will she breed her??? I practically shouted 'NO!!!'

I don't understand - why would you want to breed? Just because puppies are cute? Do they not realise it is hard work and you have to know what you're doing???? I would be way too scared of doing something wrong!

    WHYYYY?????
    It makes me so angry...

Ok I've had my rant now

Over the last 12 months there have been a lot of adds in the Cairns Post seeking mates for male dogs. The wording usually goes something like: "good looking Staffy x Lab" or "lovable Doodle" or whatever "seeks female for one night stand." They mostly add "breed or cross not important".

In other words they have a randy dog and think a mating will settle him down. Probably it will make him worse. Highly over-sexed dogs don't make good studs any way. They are usually too excited to get down to business. Far better to have the offending dangly bits removed.

One elderly man advertised in the paper for weeks. He had a lovely looking 10 year old dog - GSD x Lab type - and wanted a pup his dog had sired. Why bother? There are so many dogs and pups of this type in shelters up here. I have my doubts the dog could even achieve a mating after 10 years of celabacy (spelling ?) and his sperm count would probably be pretty low but the old man was determined to try. One unwanted litter just to get a single pup that may or may not look or act like it's father. Crazy.

Now we can both feel better after our rant.

I fully agree with what your saying Loren..

Just makes me so bloody angry how IRRESPONSIBLE some pet owners are in regards to breeding their dogs, i think the almighty $$$$ is the only bloody thing on their mind.

    Meh

It's not just the dogs that shouldn't be allowed to breed. Some of their owners shouldn't be allowed to breed either. And if they can't work that out for themselves, they're hardly going to have the ability to work it out for their pets.

    Ha, ha Exactly!

    Loren!
Just in the last few weeks i've been approached a few times by people asking me if Misi is desexed. One guy grabbed Misi and shoved her face into his Staffords face, when I saw him I asked him what the hell he was doing and he said just seeing if they like each other as she's be a perfect mate for him
Other people i've met; most own byb dogs. acquired from neighbours, friends. One Amstaff that i got to know could be pregnant to a xbreed from the doggy park. The owner said that at least the other dog was a good looking xbreed so the pups will be cute The thing I can't believe is that I seem to be the only one freaking over all this and everyone else thinks it's no big deal. The attitude is that if you want little pups you breed your dog.

    OMG Mags

Sorry to hear what that nasty prick did to Misi, shoving her face into he's dogs face, so glad the he's dog & Misi didnt mind it being done to them, the risk of them going into defense mode & attacking each other bloody is high

how dare he put he's hands on someone else dog, i would have soo gave him a head shove straight into a bloody concrete pole & see if he liked it.

    Yes I know AF,
but you know....you're dealing with diff breed of people I think. It's like talking to a brick wall. He was lucky that Misi's so placid, I was lucky that his dog didn't snap at Mis. If that was Lola, she would have shown her teeth and guess who would have been called an irresponsible dog owner?

This seems to be a daily question for me 'What is wrong with people?'

i so agree... it broke my heart seeing all those dogs on rescue and pound websites while looking for one for our home.. especially all the mixed breed mutts looking for love, why breed even more of them, when a person could take one of those home.. i came to the conclusion that i really dislike most humans, but more especially those who dump boxes of unwanted puppies, in some cases with their mothers... and i won't even touch on those who do the same with cats.. but i will stop here before this turns into a rant as well.

Puppies are cute, and all you gotta do it put a mum and dad together and you have it.
    Its that simple right..

Rrr, I know what you mean Loren :@
I have an acquaintance(sp) who has recently bred her BC. I asked if she has been health tested, temperament tested atc. She replied with, yeah she's a purebred.

I had to walk away before I gave her a mouthful...
