I think that's pretty much what I said in the previous post pugger - but some people either don't bother to read or simply cannot comprehend

Lady is restrained by the neck.

You can disagree if you like, which you do.

Pugger, its so hard to explain this sort of thing to people that havent grown up with working dogs or farms.

Yes, I agree, it would be safer for her to be in a harness, but its different.
People are gonna say no, no, no, its not different, this is your dogs life la la la.

Go out to Nangus, NSW and get back to me

Wow.. you know, you may be able to start a trend by considering your working dogs safety.

Be an agent in changing society

When Lady is in the ute, we are usually out to sheep which means working as quick as possible. I dont want to be fiddling around with a harness.

Im gonna get flamed for this, but on big property's(im talking 1000 acres) after we've done some sheep, Lades will jump into the back, get ready for this, unrestrained. And we'll cruise to another part of the land.

Seriously, I must seem like cruelty central right about now, but you guys wouldnt and im not expecting you too see where im coming from.

Possible Di could, but I think she's all.

So your more worried about bad drivers?

Bad drivers are everywhere. No one expects a seat belt to save your life 100% of the time, so a doggy harness is? It might reduce the risk, but neither I, or my family, or anyone I know have had any problems with what your talking about.
So, to be honest, im not that worried. Its not like im driving around the city.

    Ok, I understand that.

It cant be that common though otherwise there would be a rule; dogs must be restrained by a harness, not a collar.

Dogs on a farm in a ute has never been what this discussion was about - Dogs on the road - where there are other cars, where the speed is triple of that on the farm - that's the discussion. Hell, I've ridden on the back of a ute on a farm - would never do it on the road though...
