Default What are the best actions to curb a puppies cries?

    Hi all,

    First time dog owner here.

Just wanting to hear your best tips to curb a puppies cries. I am fully aware of the reality that the little guy has been suddenly removed from his family and that it will not stop over night - in fact if you think about it too much its pretty sad!

At night, we are limiting our puppy to the laundry, by the use of a child/animal gate. We are trying to spend time with him in there, so the room is not seen to be a negative space.

    Any contributions would be fantastic!

    Thanks.

Erm. Good way to get a puppy that makes blood curdling screams all night. If you don't mind not sleeping for about a week - and you have to take them out for 2am and 4am potty stops anyway.... leave the puppy in the laundry and they should figure it out eventually. Never ever ever give them any attention not even to tell them to be quiet while they are yelling.

But I fixed my screaming puppy instantly.

I set up a bed for her in a cardboard box with some old towels and jumpers in it, next to mine. I put a lead on her and put it under me and tied it to the other side of the bed so she couldn't get up and go for a walk (to toilet) without me. And I set the alarm for the necessary night time pee stops.

She's ok with sleeping elsewhere in the house with out me now, so depending what you want - you can move the puppy to their designated spot when they're older.
    good luck.

I also put my pups in a high side box or more recently a crate next to my bed. Being a light sleeper, I usually hear them when they get restless and take them out for a pee. Usually once during the night and first thing in the morning. Never had a problem with crying pups.

We did have a whippet puppy long ago that we put in the laundry and he never made a sound, he was a very good puppy.
