I think it is out and out nuts to get two puppies, especially from the same litter. Saying that - do as you please - I am entitled to my opinion and you are entitled to buy two puppies or four or six or 20. If it works for you - grand! It would never work for me.

I almost considered it in regards to getting male and female gsd pups with different lines for showing and potentially breeding - soon as the thought came into my head so did a little voice which said "are you completely barkers?"
I respect that everyone has an opinion, but my issue was that I was just wanting to share my joy of having 2 new puppies with friends and workmates and I never asked for their opinions. I don't always agree with what my friends and workmates do, but I never criticise them for the decisions they make.

It's a bit like choosing to have 2 children close together. Some would never dream of doing it, but others prefer to get the hard work (nappies/toilet training, etc) over and done with in a shorter period of time.

Ah but Occy I've never bought into the whole 'will bond with each other ,more than me' type understanding.

Like I said,I don't get it,p'raps never will it seems , why so much 'hoo haa' and negativity is thrown towards a person who gets twp pups.
I've done it as a single person, was fine. Done it as a couple, was fine.
Bloody hard work and I lost many nice items of garden equipment and shoes ,but at no times did the pups and then as dogs bond more to each other than to myself.

Chops - different strokes for different folks. I prefer getting a pup and once it is trained and well bonded, getting another dog - usually three years between my dogs. The two I have right now are 9 and 10 but I havent had them from pups obviously.

I never got people wanting to have multiple babies at same time either

    you have two?
    i have five
lots of walking but it keeps me fit and we have a great social life down at the local dog park?
if i get criticised i dont care
i am responsible and love my dogs to death
i can support them financially and dont bother the neighbours
    so whats the problem?
i know people who collect thousands of dollars worth of inanimate collectibles that will be sold on ebay after they drop dead - i am giving a comfortable life to another living soul
i figure theres some merit in that

Just thought I'd come on and have a little vent. I was so happy when I bought my new puppy Molly (9wks) home last week to be a playmate for Benson (11.5wks) but so many people that I talk to have made so many negative comments about having 2 puppies at once and it's really put a dampner on it all for me.

It's got to the point that I won't talk to people about them anymore cause I'm just so sick of hearing it. What is with people? Why do they always have to say negative things instead of just being happy for me? Really, it's not as if it's effecting them in anyway so why be like that?

I thought about it and I decided that I wanted Benson to have company during the day when I was at work and I'm prepared to have a full-on couple of months ahead of me, and I'd rather that, than have to turn around and go through the puppy stage again at another time.

    Anyway, that's my little vent.

    Thanks for reading.
We are now arranging to buy another new JS pup for Kuro. We want to keep Kuro company and what better way than with another pup. We are very fortunate that Kuro has settled in very comfortably and has become a best friend and companion to all of us. He is now fully toilet trained at 5 months ( earlier than we expected ) and is very happy. We plan on introducing the new pup around xmas/new year so Kuro will still be very active and be a great mentor for the new pup on the block ! I always have felt that two pups growing up together will always be happier and more stimulated with each others company.
So yes, I don't see any problem with having 2 pups , I'm all for it !!
