I crate my little ones and i set my alarm and i allow them two to three times Pee walks, during he night...Very tiring for me, but great for toilet training. They slowly learn or i should say are able to hold longer. I never expect young ones to hold long. So it is up to me to make sure no mishaps happen. And i use a rolled newspaper on me when they have peed on the floor as I made the mistake.....

I also take mine out and say "outside" quickly and happily on the way out and also ring our little cow bell on the door handle...dogs learn what outside is and also learn to ring bell in Winter (doors open in Summer)it is handy to let you know they need to go outside....I do not interact with puppy until they have done something and than it is great rewards of play and treats

If this is going to be a long term situation (the not letting in the yard unsupervised) would you consider building a secure run?
