Talking Dog parks in Surfers Paradise/Isle of Capri area? (Hi I'm new)

Hi! I have a three month old whippet puppy Luna and was wondering if there are any dog parks or areas where I can let her run off leash safely.

Also if there are other puppies in the neighbourhood who would like to have puppy playdates, that would be awesome.

If there are location-specific threads I should post in for this type of post please let me know for future reference

Looking forward to being part of this community!

Gibraltar Drive, Isle of Capri there is a small park "Fran Quinn Park" sandy beach and river, off leash.
No fences but that was never a problem for anyone, the dogs were happy in the water.
You are allowed on the big soccer oval (same street) ON leash.
Rosser Park, Benowa is not far but you will need to drive there.
The Spit is great (15 minute drive)- huge dog beach off leash.

Maybe look at google maps to get an idea of distances between each option. Have fun!

Thanks Chubbsecurity! I'll probably spend the weekend exploring those areas. Since Luna is a whippet I wouldn't let her off leash unless it was an enclosed area, but it's still great to know there are dog-friendly beachie areas near me!

Sorry I forgot, there is a massive enclosed/fenced park on Musgrave Avenue, Labrador.
Looks like about 10 acres of woodlands, grassed areas, trails ponds etc.
It is very nice there. (15-20 minute drive)

'leilei' - Some more information and links for you:

GCCC information about dogs and where you can take them:

City of Gold Coast | Dogs

Now what about training schools - 2 very good training schools near you:

    http://www.goldcoastdogobedience.com/

    International Dog Obedience Training School

Nothing like being with like minded people - so why not look at joining this club ?

Be very careful with Luna at leash free areas. Whippets are beautiful - but need heaps of training regarding recall – so a long lead is best - all the time. Once their eyes and nose click on something – you will have buckleys getting her back or catching her !

Have heaps of fun with her - she looks gorgeous !

Thank you Chubbsecurity and RileyJ! Don't worry about Luna getting off-leash; I am on the neurotic side when it comes to these things so there is NO WAY she would be off-leash in an unsecured area without heaps and heaps of training, practice until I have 100% confidence in her recall

(atm I'm 60% confident she'll do what I ask as long as she can see I actually have a treat in my hand)

RileyJ thanks for that first link especially. Can you believe I actually forgot about registering her??? My cat was registered the minute we touched down on Gold Coast tarmac. Don't know wth happened there...
