    Default Obsessed Puppy

    Hi

Our puppy who has just turned 6 months old has started to be obsessed with reflections on the roof. Anything like watches or plates that leave a reflection onto the roof he will sit and stare at.

Usually he is very energetic and wont sit still but within the last few days has started to sit and stare at them for up to an hour or until we can find something to distract him with - which is getting harder. He now wont respond to his sqeeky toy or us calling him.

How do we stop this behaviour? I dont want it to go on much longer as im afraid it willl become a habit. He has never acted like this to anything else before.

Any help would be great! Thanks

Maybe just try moving the water bowl somewhere where it can't be reflected, thats all I can really think of right now!

Candy was like this...she'd watch the planes in the sky...the birds fly past..and butterflies...she'd chase them all over the yard pouncing at them!!

I got out the kids bubble machine (auto babble blower) and she loved it...being able to actually catch the bubbles seemed to leave her content.

I don't have any suggestions for you....hopefully it's just a stage of curiosity. Try some bubbles!

thanks. if i move his water bowl he just finds something else to stare at or will search the roof to see where the reflection went! I will keep trying to find things to distract him with so hopefully he will forget about the reflections!
    Thanks!!!

    Hi Lauren
I know what you mean...My pup Lola was like this when I got her.
She'd go crazy over a watch reflection on the ceiling etc, then the mirror. We have a display cabinet with a mirror back so one they she spotted herself in the mirror and OMG-what a carry on.
I think It's a phase...an annoying one...but Lola got over it within a few weeks. It's just something new, different, scary to them and they react. The only thing I did was distract her. eg. take her outside and have a play, go to another room and call her-once there give her pats, cuddles.
Her latest phase is barking at dogs on TV. Even if the dog on TV isn't barking she still spots it and growls or barks.
    Good luck!

Thanks Magdalena. Its good to know he should grow out of it! I ignored it last night and although he was in his bed it took about 1 1/2 hours until he settled down and stopped staring at the ceiling but eventually he went to sleep!
Dogs are so funny watching tv - dozer has his favorite shows as im sure Lola does!
    Thanks
