    Default In a Slum

I've been feeling really down lately, I need a change in my life but just dont know what to do.
I really want to change jobs but, apart from not being in a possition to change as my partner and I are trying to buy a house, I dont know what I want to do.
I would love to do something with animals but I keep comming up with things that are stopping me (my state of mind being the biggest thing)
I've thought of working at a pet store, but dont like pet shops that sell animals so kinda of defeats the purpose.
Dog training, cant afford the courses I've looked at and really dont do well with talking in front of people so it would have to be one on one.
Dog grooming, those pesky courses again.
I'm sure theres lots of others but mostly it comes down to money and that of.

I'm not really looking for advise, just getting that off my chest.
    Thanks for listening.

    OMG! Bordeaux !
    I've been exactly the same...
    Really down, needing a change...
    Feel for you mate!
My sadness is triggered by illness. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis not long ago. Really sucks! Get really sore and tired.
Up untill 10 months ago I was working with hubby in a business we started together a few years ago, meeting new people every day, as well as taking care of my mum and doing my art after hours ( i'm also an artist).
Now, i'm limited to what i can do-especially during flare ups. I've been home for months now, trying to paint-but can't on bad days.
Been thinking about changing my treatment and doing a course. Like you, I'd love to work with animals. Thought about vet-nurse, animal care, etc.
Lack of money doesn't help, but I think I'll look into it more.
Maybe take your beautiful pooches for a big walk, or weekend away and have a heart to heart with yourself. If you decide you need to change careers to be happy, then do it! Life's too short!
Brain storm for ideas on how you could come up with the $ for a course.
    All the best!
    Chin up mate! xxx Mags

In my experience, there are very few jobs related to canines that pay enough to support anyone.

The only way to work with animals and have the remuneration to match, is to gain a degree or diploma in a related industry.

    Thanks Mags.
It helps to know your not alone. While physically I'm fine I do struggle emotionally (left my last job after a small break down at work, not sure what caused it but I can feel the signs of it coming on again).

Yes Anne i think your right. Thats part of my problem, while idealy I want to work with dogs I know it's not going to happen (at least untill my partner finally realises he's worth more than he's getting paid hehe) But when ever I talk to people and they ask what kind of job I want the only thing I really feel anything about is animals.

I'm thinking what I really need is a hobby

You should go to one of the pet fairs they have every year - lots of ideas on how to start up a business.

I actually know exactly how you feel Bordeaux (and Mags), I am in the same situation. I am fed up with my job and would like to do something else. I think I will sign up for a dog trainer course (thought about it now for months) and if I like that I will start studying animal psychology via distance learning. Luckily my partner supports me with everything which makes it easier for me. I know its expensive but I saved some money and I will use that. And as the courses are part time I will still be working full time...
I hope you find something you like!!! I so know how it affects you when you are not happy anymore at your job!!
And a hobby is also great idea. I started with agility and love it

    I know what you mean...

My 2 passions in life are animals and art - ever since I was tiny.
I know what it's like to study something you're passionate about. I studied Art at Uni for 5 years and It's so brilliant to do what you love, I also studied teaching and that was the opposite. So now I feel like working with my 2nd passion=animals.
If youre just having a bad day or week-you'll be ok. We all have bad days, but if this is something that keeps coming back and getting you down, and it's related to your job...then look in to courses on offer, look into costs, payment options etc. as it's just so brilliant to do what you love everyday.

Actually, one other thought I just had... Do you like sewing? I know strange question and wouldn't be anything for me but one thing I couldn't find anywhere for Ziggy were nice collar and lead. Of course we have the practical ones but I ended up buying some online from Germany. They are handmade and beautiful. I bought two, one with skulls and the other one in asia style (see photo attached, not very cear though). Well, its a long shot but I was asked by so many people where I got them from... and maybe you like sewing
