    Red face Thank you iSelect

So, I was revisiting my health cover. I was never really happy with what I had because I really only use it for Chiro and Myo, so everything else is a bit of a waste for the money I pay. I have never been in hospital (touch wood) and use the public system anyway, plus I am pretty healthy. Anyway, I went onto the iSelect website, typed in my contact details and browsed for a bit without finding anything better than what I had, so I left.

About 10 minutes later I got a call from Chris from iSelect. We had a chat about what I wanted (LOTS of Chiro and Myo) and the fact I didn't want hospital because I can use the public system if needed (I can just get Ambulance cover separately) and after 45mins he found the right cover for me...

Before, with NIB, I was paying approx. $630 per year and getting back $300 combined Chiro and Myo
Now, I pay approx. $880 per year BUT I get $450 on Myo AND $700 on Chiro!! PLUS everything else like dental, optical
I will use all the myo and most of the chiro (yes, i spend approx. $5K on this each year), so NOW I'm actually making money from my health provider instead of paying $330 for it!!! I couldn't believe it.

I am SOOOOOOOOO Glad Chris called me. Now I don't feel like I'm wasting money having health insurance to avoid the Tax Levy

I went with AHM for my extra's cover. I only need extra's and will only change to full when I start planning on a family! Went to the dentist the other day for a check up and to find out how much work I need done and it only cost $40.00 bucks and got 83 back! Pretty happy with that! lol

    That's good

I didn't consider only having extras until talking to Chris from iSelect and worked out that my hospital cover and such was only really public anyway, so it was a bit of a waste. I'm so glad I changed covers.

I had just extras with medibank and only used it like 4 times for fillings (dental)
We got it cause our daughter in grade 5 looks like she'll need braces.
Anyway her private ortho said she wouldn't need them till about grade 7 so we cancelled
and will rejoin a year before maybe next year..

we looked at full cover and you still out a pocket big time if you had to stay in hospital
anyway. Besides we figure if we are needing urgent surgery the public hospital will
admit you right away .. Couldn't really be bothered with full cover.
Even though we have children like I said if it's urgent the public system will deal with it..
Terrible way to think of it like this but we were just throwing money away ..

I am suspicious of private health care due to some of the stories I've heard from friends. And one advice that I have heard again and again is: go public for having children!
