Default Baby snakes or little legless lizards???

So yesterday I go out the front for a ciggy, and this tiny thing quickly slithers away into the garden. Initially I thought it was one of those tiny little skink things but it wasn't. It's black (or dark coloured) and doesn't have any legs, moves like a snake (i.e. s shape slither) and was pretty small, like 10cms maybe 15 cms long, though was hard to tell because it was moving so quickly and was all s shaped.

Then today about 5 mins ago, I come up from the pool and one of them slithers into a crack in some rocks of the garden. This is currently a dirt bed for Barney (he has dug all the dirt out very deeply and lies in it when it is really hot).

But I dont know what they are....Does anyone know whether these are baby snakes or little legless lizards?

Ok so the one by Barneys dirt garden where he sleeps pretty much all day, and where both dogs hang out (though if not supervised Pippi is usually tied up) is defo a baby snake.

It's kind of a browny colour.

The OH is currently out there now trying to catch it.

So, my question now is, if there is one, does that mean there is a nest?

Also, the dogs have ben going under the back deck lately and going apeshit under there and now we are wondering if that is where the mumma lives, or where the nest is.

What do you long time QLDers say?

I dont like it....its yucky LOL.

They are harmless, we have lots of them here, they burrow into the ground.

We had a batch of them here that the dogs quickly got rid of. When I googled them I can't remember if they were blind lizards or blind snakes. Would have to look it up again.

yea I googled the obvious differences, lizards also have eyelids whereas snakes dont, and lizards have fleshy tongues where as snakes have forked...but I wasnt going that close lol.

Anyway, we have flagged it for now and will just monitor

I have seen something similar but I thought it was a giant worm, lol.

If it's plain brown it's not a brown snake baby - they are banded.

Very hard to tell without getting up close or a picture.

Most legless lizards (all the ones I have seen) have very small stumps where legs would usually be.
