Unhappy One year anniversary - Qld flash flooding

Just watching the special on tv now about the flooding last year! It's sending shivers all up and down my spine!

I was living out in the Lockyer valley at the time and that storm was probably one of the oddest I've ever been in. 6 or so hours of bucketing rain. Luckily on that Monday by the time I was to leave for work the roads to brissy were already cut. The poor dogs would have been stuck at home until the Friday when people could get back through.

A farmer that I talked to after that who lived on the Lockyer river told us that he has everything wash up on his property from cool rooms to tanks, kids toys everything. He lost all of his crops and before the floods was already doing it tough. So the floods were devastating to his family. So many sad stories

Rip to all the people that lost their lives that day, some of whos bodies have never been found.

I remember it so well.......i took pics on my phone of the water coming up in Bundy just before i left for the Gold Coast for Xmas. I had no idea i was going to be trapped there for days and days. Still, we finally got back home and saw the carnage that Bundy copped and here we where feeling sorry for ourselves and then.......the news showed us what the Lockeyer Valley had been dealt and all my frustrations and worries seemed very, very insignifigant. I've havnt been that shocked, sad, angry etc since 911.

The next few weeks where the most proudest i have ever been to witness the Queenslander spirit !!! Talk about pulling together, rolling up ya sleves and getting a job done. Bloody amazing !!!

I've only got one picture left from it since my computer died and lost everything, its of our front yard during the down pour, although the picture doesn't do the amount of water justice!

Here are some of my favourite pictures for all of QLD

It sucks that Rocky and the rest of QLD was forgotten though as soon as Brissy went under. And Anna blighs performace...iik! haha

This would have to be one of the most touching, for some reason it's always gotten to me

I'll never ever forget Jordan Rice, the 13 year old boy that sacrificed himself to save his younger brother. While everything that happened was sad, nothing else moved me and made me cry like that story did. The recount from Warren McErlean is heartbreaking.
