a year old is not too young to be breeding cats. They reach maturity and stop growing long before dogs do.

If the kits wil be born after the mother is 1 then there isn't a problem.

Each of my 2 female cats had a litter each and I still now 8 years later know where all but 2 of the kits are (one kitten from each litter went to strange homes). One my sster took now lives at a pub because she lived there and was the manager and when she moved the Oz, the pub owner asked if Rocky could please stay as he was keeping th emice down and the regulars loved him - I find that story a little bit cute.

Anyway, if it's a first litter, IMO you can probably expect about 4 kittens. Cats having 12 does not happen very often so I wouldnt worry about it.

Good luck with the litter...kittens are so much fun.

I had one cat a couple of years ago that got in a litter before she was desexed, she was only about 4 months old, so Tiny! We took her to the Vet to be desexed and they told us she was pregnant and that he could abort them. I just couldnt do it! She had 9 kittens and every one of them was a different colour Lol It was Crazy!

With kittens we usually get them snipped about 3 months old. Only had my one whoopsie little which happen to be MY First cat!

With the Sphynx, I want the red coloured one. I am not a huge Fan of the black and white!

I got an email from the breeder and it said they come at 8 weeks. They leave desexed, vaccinated, pedigree registered, microchipped and with a contract.

The RSPCA and most Vets will desex when they hit the 1 kilo mark I believe. This I think is anywhere from 8 weeks to about 12 weeks.

in regards to her age she is 12 1/2 months now to be exact. i knew it wasnt too young, it is preferable that they do not mate on their first heat, this is her second. i separated her (actually crated her) the first time around.

THANKS LALA AND BL AND HYA. These kittens will be going to forever loving homes and if there is more than expected they will stay with me until i find them one, i dont care how old they get.

And yeh im not a fan of the black and white either, well good luck if you and OH get one, it will be soooo cute and ill need lots of pics!!!!

OMG 9 kittens at 4 months old...geez thats massive

My old dog Chevy got pregnant at about 8 months old. I was only 17 and didn't even realise she had come into heat (she was my first MY dog all by myself). I had enough homes that she could have had th elitter but after talking to my vet who explained that at such a young age she might not be strong enough for the birth and may need a ceasarean, I aborted her pregnancy. I had always planned to get her desexed anyway so it wasnt a biggy...I felt a bit mean though

I really didnt mean offence I just wasnt sure on your reasoning..

I still do not agree with it but as it has already happened and you will obviously look after their welfare so I see no point dwelling on it.

And yes I do mean just dsh I would probably have a slightly different opinion if they were purebred Ragdolls and you a breeder which was what I was asking.

And Lala I do understand where you are coming from, I think if Kaida (7months) got pregnant (before I had her desexed) I would abort it!

well yes she definately is, I have 5 solid homes for her babies, granted she has that many. If it is a larger litter I do have quite a few people sitting on the fence about it however I dont want to promise homes when I do not know the siz of the litter as yet. Vet is coming on the 30th to do a "pregnancy check up" on her. We will see if he can feel the size of the litter by palpating.

I know most of you dont care much for the situation, and others dont because we are on a dog forum and i am talking about cats, but i will keep the updates coming because I AM very excited. She is sleeping pretty much all day and night as can be expected and is very affectionate while awake. Also eating ALOT.. well more often.

Maybe you could start a separate thread for keeping us posted about the cat.

I don't think a thread on child abuse is going to be the easiest place to find your updates.

Really don't know why anyone thought it should deviate in the first place.
