Thread: Nervous!!

Aww... don't worry K & P... I'm the queen of the first date. I've been on what seems like hundreds of them and I'm only 22 !! Go somewhere with alcohol so you can have a couple of wines to calm your nerves (but not TOO many, not classy to get plastered on a first date). Have conversation topics in mind so if there are awkward silences you can fill them, and wear something that you feel really great in to boost your confidence! Also if you go for dinner don't order something really awkward to eat like linguine... learned that one the hard way. It's really embarrassing to have someone scrutinise you eating spaghetti if you haven't known each other a long time! Good luck!

I'm crap at dating. Sure flushes my guts out. I think I'm allergic. The more I like a particular guy the more of an allergic reaction I have.

Not been a problem for years though. It's quite easy to turn down idiots whose idea of a date invite is to ask in front of lots of friends - for a shag.

I'm not sure I'd go for dinner first - given my dating allergy. I think it would have to be something easier that we both like doing that doesn't require constant entertaining of each other. So I would have picked the movie - then at least we'd have something to talk about.

I don't get the night club thing - how on earth do you have a conversation. Was in town last night for dinner with friends and couldn't believe how naked all the girls were or how idiotic the blokes were. Matches made in heaven (literally I suppose since one of our nightclubs is called "heaven").

Well we both live Southside. I am in Wynnum and he is in Springwood, so somewhere South of the city would be best but not fased at going close or into the city.

Thanks for the pointers Jaxxie! Will keep them all in mind. I am only 23 and I have barely been on first dates (too many long term relationships), most of my relationships prior to this tended to form without going on dates or not going on dates until we already knew each other. I don't know this guy haha, well I have been talking to him but I haven't actually met him yet.

LMAO @ Hya - Allergic reaction to dating!!!! Yeah I was definitely leaning towards the movie personally but decided to take stupid friends advise, told him if it is totally weird I will kill him for his shite advice.

Chipps - I am pretty sure my dogs would scare him off, they are a bit too boisterous to do that with. Did think about fish and chips down at the Wynnum Espy this morning when I was walking Phoenix though. Would be a good date down the track though

Depending on the type of first date you want....

Lure at the Coronation Hotel is phenomenal! Seafood restaurant, honestly the best food and service I've had anywhere in Brisbane. The platters are enormous, but it comes with a large price tag. Very worth it though!

Dell"Ugo Southbank is very nice too, beautiful Italian food, plenty that isn't messy and again great service. I can't remember the price tag because I wasn't the one paying there. Pasta made from scratch, and cooked to perfection.

Ginga Sushi Bar is really good too!

They're more southbank way though. There's a beautiful little Jazz bar in Kangaroo Point but I can't for the life of me think what it's called!

My brothers just got back on the dating scene from getting out of a long distance relationship. He has gone on a couple of "blind" dates etc

What I would suggest is be honest, be yourself and make sure you have a couple of conversation starters up your sleeve to use when there is an akward silence.

Thanks Angela, will have a look at all of those places Southbank is good, because always a chance for going somewhere to have a few drinks afterwards.

Erk blind dates. I know what he looks like and he knows what I look like, so not exactly a blind date, just never actually met face to face. Really nice guy though.

Haha with my luck I will have conversation starters up my sleeve and every single one will come up in the first 5 minutes!
Thanks for the advice BL will keep it in mind.

Your all legends, thanks for the help. Little less nervous and more excited now
