Default So Many User, Not So Many Posters

Do you know what I mean?

I look down at the users listed and there are so many names but you dont really see all those posters actually posting, ya know?

Its kinda the same users over and over....which is kinda the same on most forums I guess.

Itd be nice though for there to be lots of other people regularly posting too

A lot of people drop by, post a question then never return, happens on all forums.

One forum I am on has nearly 900,000 members... only about 50 of us are considered 'regulars'.

The user list also (I assume) dates back to when the forum was started, so there's probably hundreds of people that have come and gone over the years.

It seems to come in spurts. I can look over a period of days and there will be nothing much, and anything there is doesn't interest me, and then suddenly a flurry of posts will be made.

True, and if you really look at the user list, it seems many join but then never post.

I really can't understand why some forums do not do a cleanup of memberships that are inactive and have been for some time. Emails can be sent first.

Some I guess like to boast membership numbers. Makes them look good I suppose.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

It would take forever to sort through the members who have only made 1 post or never posted.

Anyway, that's Morgan's choice and job LOL

I am not sure it would take that long, although I have no clue really on how complicate dit woul dbe to find and then delete. However, I can do a search on a posters who had made more than 1 post and it takes 0.07 seconds to get the results (or so the screen says).

I think that deleting members who have never posted may also end up delteing members who just like to read. I wouldn;t think there were a lot, but there would be a few.

I think it would be better to delete those who haven't visited for 'x' number of days.
