    Smile Hair Extensions

    Hey all!

Now I don't know if any of you here have hair extensions, but if you have, can I ask your opinion on them?

I really regret cutting all my off (to above my shoulder, when it was below my bust! ), I cut it all off last September, and it has only grown one inch!

I am going to be a bridesmaid at a wedding next March, and I am just sick of not being able to do anything with such short hair!

I have found two places in Bankstown, NSW who do excellent extensions and have a great reputation, and have awards for them as well.

But I am just wondering if it's worth it? Do they really damage your hair as much as people say they do?

And are the clip in's better than the weave or glued in ones?

Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated

If you like running your fingers through hair - they may suck.

I've got short short hair and I love it. Used to have really long hair, and always did the exact same thing with it ie pulled back into a pony tail - so short short hair looks pretty much the same anyway.

If I had short short hair and hadn't cut it since last september it would be ponytail shoulder length by now, it does grow quickly.

Do you mean next March 2011 or 2012? If it's 2011 it might be a bit late to experiment with extensions and then decide you don't like the way it looks or feels. If it's March 2012 - then why not experiment with some extensions (and hair dressers) now? I'd start with the clip in ones - to see if you like the look, and if you can't stand them, you don't have to massacre your hair to get them out.

I would also try to find the people who have hair extensions - and ask them (not the hairdressers or their websites). I've heard of excellent results and horror stories. So I'd want to be very confident about the hairdresser before I got glue in ones for an important occasion (ie you're going to be photographed).

Never had them done myself but heaps of friends have. I have seen some brilliant ones, and some really awful ones too.
You can always get the clip on ones, when put in properly they look real.

The wedding isn't until March 2012, so my hair will grow a bit more by then, but I just hate, hate hate hate my short hair! I regret cutting it off so much. I will admit that it needed it, the ends were a bit dead, but I cannot stand short hair. I have to wear the same hair style every day and it sucks !!

I think I am going to go for the clip in ones, a rang a place this morning and they sell a full head of clip in hair for $80, and they help you match the colour and put them in for you too. So I think I will give them a go.

3 girls I work with have all had hair extensions for about 5 years, but they got the tiny little clip in ones, and they all wear their hair in buns or ponytails, but they pull their hair so tight that you can see the clips poking through, it doesn't look that nice. But I always wear my hair loose anyway (loose ponytails, buns, plaits etc) so I won't need to worry about that.

    Thanks for your advice girls!

Just grow your hair....... Extentions do damage and it will rip some of your hair out because of the extra weight.
I have an opinion and Im not affraid to use it!!!

I had hair extensions in last year. I had them done in Bankstown too! Glamour Sisters is great and they are cheap as chips in the way of extensions. Only $200 to put them in and $60 to get them re-tightened after 6 weeks (this is for 20")

They braid them in. I loved mine. They were softer than my real hair, curled easily, and they matched the colour PERFECTLY. The girls work very fast as well, you're out in 20 mins.

I have been considering getting them in again, and also thinking about clip-ins this time. Clip-ins are really cheap so maybe try them first and if you find them to fiddly, go the more permanant ones =)
    That's my plan.

P.S. If you go to Glamour Sisters, you may have a massive headache the first night. They do them MEGA tight lol

Oh and it didn't really do any damage to my hair...

My partner's cousin had glue-in ones for her wedding and she said they were heaps good too.
She bought hers of the net and had a friend put them in though. I don't know how much it would cost to get glue-ins professionally done. And it takes a while to do as well.

    Thanks Lollen!

Yeah I spoke to Glamour Sisters this morning and I am going to go with the clip in ones to start off with! See how they go

I would grow my hair but it takes about a year for it to even grow 4 inches. It's stupid, I have no idea why my hair grows so slowly. But it sucks!

Lol true. I had hair past my shoulders and got it all cut off into a pixie cut.... been trying to grow it for the last two and a half years, and it's only just gotten past my shoulders again.

Maybe you need more calcium in your diet. Slow hair growth might be something worth asking your GP about next time you see them. Could be diet or genetic or both.

    10 Foods for Healthy Hair | ModernMom.com
this article has been copied a lot around the web.
It vaguely recommends a healthy diet, omega 3s - walnuts and fish,

I found another that recommended iron and protein - which would be found in steak and red meat. But also nuts and leafy greens.

I eat a lot of dairy, and walnuts eg breakfast is yoghurt, tinned fruit (or fresh when available), and walnuts on top. And I weigh it out to stop me from going OTT with serves. I also put a teaspoon of sugar in to unsour the yogurt. Still way less sugar than in the ready made flavoured yoghurt.

I also eat wholemeal bread and pasta and a lot of cheese. And eat something like steak once or twice a week.

Good luck with your hair, hope you get back the hair looks you like.
