    Default Piercings.

I was thinking about getting my tongue pierced and was wondering about others experiences with piercings? I have my first holes in my ears and mum said if I liked I could get my seconds done for my birthday, but I don't want to do that. I asked about my tongue and she said we could compromise and do my nose, but I have oily skin and ughh. So she said getting my tongue done is a possibility. So has anyone had their tongue pierced? Or their nose?

I got my tongue pierced when I was 21. Didn't hurt all that much (I thought my belly butten hurt more) but I almost passed out from shock.

Talking and eating were hard for a week, after 3 days I was craving meat as I had been living on icypoles to help with the swelling.

Mines set back a little more than normal so most people dont know I have it unless I tell them (helps with jobs, some places will want you to take it out)

They hurt like a b*%#^ if you bite the ball when your eating. I did try a plastic one for a while but it made my tongue feel funny. Most people I know with them (admitingly thats not a lot of people) have chipped or broken their teeth at some point, I do have a small chip in 1 tooth, but you cant see it.

I thought about getting my nose done (I love small studs on girls) but working in hospitalty means I would have to take it out or cover it.

I have my belly, nose and ears done (5 piercings in my ears alone).

I have never really wanted to get my tongue pierced because of the stories and things I have seen first hand happen to people who do have it done.

Not that it happens a lot, but there is a small chance you could suffer from drooling. One girl got hers pierced and the drooling never stopped until she took it out.

I only got my nose pierced last year and I love it, it's very small and discreet.

I just honestly don't like the look of a stud flashing around in someones mouth when they are talking.

And like Bordeaux said, you can't eat properly for a while and it can hurt real bad if you bite down on the stud when chewing.

Ultimately the choice is yours, just giving my opinion

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I won't get any bit of me deliberately pierced because my skin is so prone to infections. I get ulcers in my mouth, pimples in my ears and earlobes and eyebrows, there is no way I'm going to introduce a permanent piercing to increase the infection risk.

I used to have bands on my teeth and that sucked big time. Eventually my mouth toughened up but anything that impacted - would make a hole, ie bumping into the dog or siblings or hockey players or bits of sail boat or horses, whatever.

And I confess I have difficulty looking at certain piercings without imagining how it feels and I find it distracting when I'm talking to someone with a nose piercing - especially if they have a cold, or someone with a tongue piercing if they lisshp with it. And it makes my eyes water. Sigh. Pathetic but there it is. I find face tattoos distracting too but at least they don't make my eyes water.

When I was about 16, I wanted my tongue pierced, just cause I thought it looked cool. Without being too rude, I was told it enhanced the feeling of....sexual acts....and couldn't help but think they were tacky after that.

I agree with Myf, tongue studs look a bit.... to steal an American term... Trailor Trashy. But that's just my opinion, there are plenty of people out there with them.
A couple of my male friends have their tongues done.

Googled the risks for it and I'm not willing to take the risks. Gum erosion, tooth chips, speech impediments ( they drive me nuts) and paralysis of the tongue, and if they get the wrong spot and hit a vein you can potentially bleed to death apparently... so it might look cool, but I love my teeth more!

So my next choice was a nose piercing. I don't like the rings, only a little stud that sparkles. I did think about my belly button, but with a Great Dane that is very 'pawy' and hurts at the best of times, if she hits my tummy, she will easily rip it out. And also I think the only look good on little skinny tummies, of which I do not posses I think its in a too easy place to rip it out when I'm around horses and Lacey so nose it is. I'd like to get it done before my bithday, which is in August, so I don't get a hole whacked through my nose on my birthday Sounds pretty yuck when you think of it that way. But I've got a new maths teacher this year, and a crap one at that so if I try hard enough and I manage to get a B, she said I might be able to get it done before my birthday.

I'm going to go and check out the place in town next time we go in, just for a looka round and to ask some questions.

You have to choose the right sort of nose piercing, or it looks like a pimple :P
I don't mind belly button ones though.

This is all looks though, I only have my ears pierced once, and despite giving injections hundreds of times a weeks, im afraid of needles.

I have had my lip and toungue pierced. Both of them not worth it. Where I had my lip pierced its stuffed my gums and pushed them down where it rbbed. With my toungue peirced I chipped 2 teeth and one of which I am still going to the dentist for. Sure it may cost you $80 odd bucks now but it can and will end up costing alot more further down the track.
I have an opinion and Im not affraid to use it!!!

I think you have made the right decision

I got my nose done last year and when you first get it down you have to keep the stud in that they give you, but I changed mine after about 2 weeks. I'll attach a picture of mine so you can see what it looks like, and the stud I have in now is the smallest one I have, it's just a little blue glittery one, but the shiny part has since fallen out of mine and I need a new one!

( If you click on it, it will open up bigger in a new window )
