    Default Work and Other Distractions

I had a search for a topic or discussion where people had talked about what they do with the lives, work-wise and otherwise, but couldn't really find one. I'm curious to know more about what people do though, or did, or would love to do in an ideal world. Hobbies, etc etc.

I had a meltdown last year and decided to quit my job and go back to uni, so now work part time at the (Vic) Dept of Transport and have started studying law too. Which I absolutely love, but which is very draining and complex. I'm a glutton for punishment though, so it's suiting me just fine. Outside of work I tend to procrastinate (ah, homework, how I missed it...), hang around with my boyfriend Dase and my ma and her pooches, and read lots of books. I'm a bit of a homebody these days, not particularly good for these types of threads. But you know, I showed you mine, now you show me yours!

Many years in the same job to pay off a mortgage. The last 7 years I was able to focus on sculpting, had 2 exhibitions and sold 8 out of 10 peices, then moved on to volunteer work at 2 animal shelters and being invoved with a couple of rescue groups. The sale of my art work now is donated to 2 animal shelters, at christmas I sold just under $3000.
Last year I was offered a job at one of the shelters..and now support Oscar's Law which has something on a couple times a month.

I am renovating a house in a rural town to help finance our own farm & work part time for my family they are farmers & grow kikuyu for seed among other ventures. I did full time rescue of large breeds(mainly rotties) for many years whilst living in western sydney & worked as a vet nurse. Now I'm back home my main job is looking after my animals & the livestock. I still do some rescue but of livestock guardain type breeds & poodle x's mainly & never have the numbers I used too deal with. I do more retraining than anything these days.
I have a large home pack of 8 dogs atm & look after my parents Maremmas alot also. My pack consist os Tibetan Mastiffs, Poodles & a few multi mutts. I breed an occasional litter but in truth my dogs are just my exspensive little fur family & I would not be without them.
I have a strong interest in substainable organic farming & my dream is the live on my own self substained farm(solar power, grow own organic food & barter for what you don't have) & have a small Pony Stud breeding heavy boned harness ponies that are suitable for pony clubbing also.

crazydog, next time you have a poodle x that needs a home, hit me up! I'm still fostering a greyhound who is currently on petrescue.com.au, greyhoundrescue.com.au etc, but when he has found a forever home I'm going to set my sights on a poodle x

Although I'm ALMOST not allergic to greyhounds, I grew up with poodles and poodle xs and as long as they're mostly hypoallergenic I'm good. I've been scouring rescue sites for poodle xs but have to wait til Snow's found his home first

Cool I will remember you. I just rehomed the cutest poodle x matesse that had nearly as curly a coat as a pure poodle. She was a sweet wee thing & has gone to live with an older lady but I will still see her as I am still doing her grooming. The vets had her handed in to be pts because her owner had died. They are on to me there & no I can not say no, lol. She was desexed already all I had to do was fix her chip details & she was hardley here a week when she got her forever home.
My sister also can only seem to have curley coated dogs.

I would love to pay you to draw a picture of Bubba & my OH wants to find someone who could draw a sketch of a Bubba head shot to be a tattoo for him. Your very talented.

Crested that is a fantastic drawing! Like CD, I would love to commission some work too when you are free. I did start drawing my own dogs but I do not have the patience and as such have only completed the outline and the eyes LOL (about 2 years ago).

I dont do anything exciting or fun. I have a computer degree after studying once my daughter started school. I now work with documentation/systems/technical writing type stuff.

I do dabble in a bit of arty stuff, paintings and drawings but my OH calls me 75% lala as I never complete anything (when it doesnt start looking how I want it to, I los einterest quickly) though I have finished a painting in our lounge. I usually do cartoons (lion king, cars, made up stuff) for my friends kids for their birthdays gifts (too stingy to buy a pressy lol). Though now that I work all the time the dabbling has become much less - always wanted a career in art or animals and I dont do either...

Great thread Allie! I'm an Ally too

Well I am about to start a new career on the 21st of Feb, 2011 - in Real Estate! I have finally decided that I don't want to be a Receptionist for the rest of my life (that's all I have ever been since I was 17) so I got a job where I will start off as Office Administrator then when I'm ready, I just put my hand up and say "train me!" and I'll start my training to become an Industrial Real Estate Sales Agent!

Then I am hoping to get some property (and lots of it!) and run my own rescue shelter!

Erm, what else? I read, a lot! And I write too. Currently writing a new ah, "novel" haha (wishful thinking!)

Just moved out with thee boyfriend and that's cool!

And that's basically it about me, lol!
