    Just a quick post..

Ive set-up a redirect domain name for flood donations which is a lot easier to remember for passing onto friends/family to donate.

Donate to the flood relief appeal

Redirects to the official page but easier to type/say/remember.

Please everyone help out and donate!

    Hey guys,

I've been a lil absent lately, we went north to T'vill for xmas, they thought the flooding there at that time was bad, they knew nothing of what was coming.

We went south to Maryborough for New Years to race, well upon being flooded down there and not being able to get through rocky, we drove the truck to withcott, to leave it safe and sound and fly home from bne. Little did we know not even a week later we would be wondering if the truck even existed still.

The scariest part, the truck wasn't even really entering our thoughts, we were far more scared that the people we knew and left it with were no longer ok. Turns out they managed to survive (as did the truck - they had enough notice to move it to higher ground).

Unfortunately their lives are ok, their psychological state is another question. On his way from where he lives to the shed compound, he said the death he saw and destruction wasn't comprehendable. Animals, houses completely moved off foundations and the worst kind, other humans he knew were stuck in houses and didn't get out. He said it's not a situation he can explain to someone that's not there, it's so horrendous.

Other friends in Toowoomba managed to out run the torrent of water that came through the main st of town and made it home safely, the scariest thing they have been though. These people though were spared in comparison to those at Grantham, there was a convergence of water there that wreaked a more intense havoc on the township.

A good friend who's parents live in Ipswich had to wait anxiously to know whether her kids who were staying with her parents were going to survive. The water rose too quickly in their area and they couldn't get out on time, they were on the SES rescue list but time was running out, thankfully though a happy ending with the water falling short by 1m of predicted heights, they were spared and the relief is amazing.

Where we stayed in Maryborough, a few days after we left was only 50m from being inundated by the Mary River at the Lamington Bridge.

Rockhampton and Emerald blew us away with the amount of water in the towns, Rockhampton is still flooded and has been now for close to a fortnight, the stench in the town is horrible from the water. We had friends in both Rocky and Emerald that escaped tragedy.

We were SO LUCKY to be home safe and sound before the worst came. While driving from Maryborough to Withcott through the small towns of Nanango, Cooyar, Goomeri etc you could see where the water had been and we were talking to a few locals about the amount of water they'd already had through. Who knew there was so much worse to come. Poor Dalby (which we didn't have to pass through) got evacuated for the 5th time since december only 2 days ago.

This is the harsh reality of what these poor poor people have had to face. For anyone that is part of the facebook world, check out the photos on these few pages, you will have some indication of the destruction caused.

The support, mateship, help and devastation are mind blowing.

Sorry for the length of the post, the situation can't really be explained in short though.

I should just ad we are safe n sound in Sarina, there are NO issues here and we haven't had ANY flooding. THANK THE LORD...... I feel so so sorry for what all these people have had to go through and the people of the Lockyer Valley are held in their own regard for me as the wall of water unwarned basically that hit, is something none of the other flooded towns have had to deal with.

    What a situation for QLD!

When i was listening 702 (local radio) late Nov or early Dec, I am sure I heard of people warning flood in Q/land. I am not sure why warning was not given to people in those areas again. Well I guess it has to do with natural disaster....

More flooding in Vic and SA....mmm

I'm a little addicted to Weatherzone forum and there were a few members on there that predicted the flooding, with one exception, the torrential down pour in Toowoomba. No one even on there saw that happening exactly where it did which is what caused such a disaster for the Lockyer Valley. There would have been flooding which was being predicted however this worsened it no end. The rain was predicted and there was a severe weather warning for the general are from BOM however the intensity and exact location wasn't ever thought to combine in the disastrous way it did.

    Interestingly....

A member on there asked why was it the people on there were able to predict these things happening but the BOM with the technology and range of experts they have couldn't. The short answer...... the guys on weatherzoen don't have to play political russian roullete. It's a worry huh. These guys that moderate and answer the hard questions on there are qualified meteorologists with many years experience.

Yes it does look ominous for Vic and SA but in the short term Northern NSW are set for their share of this flood disaster. I believe there have been evacuations already.

    It is all absolutely horrendous.
My good news story is that my son can now get out of Gympie to fly home tomorrow.
He was always safe though and for him a minor inconvenience.
Absolutely nothing at all compared to those who have lost lives, pets, houses, property, crops etc.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

We're in Moggill. Totally isolated from everywhere else via the Moggill Road being flooded in. Had to evacuate to my boyfriend's house, who luckily is not anywhere near a flood zone (so also hasn't had the power cut). My dog is not getting along with my boyfriend's dogs, so we've had to alternate feeding, play and outside time.
