Prowler - are you a couch potato?

I've busted my nose - on a hockey ball, and some fingers and toes. Nothing major like a broken leg or arm (touch wood, taps own head). I have done a lot of cycling, sailing small dinghies, hockey and other sport. Came close to busting an arm when I got it wedged between two rails on a houseboat, when I was hanging off it in a strong current. Decided to find the strength to pull myself out of that before something broke or I got too tired / fatigued to get out of it. Could see the whole forearm bending in a rather ugly way. So some bone flexibility probably helps stop some breaks.

Busted an ACL playing hockey too, with the help of some gumnuts meaning my shoe did not grip when I tried to change direction. Had that fixed up with a piece of patella tendon. Still have weird sensation and pain when kneeling.

Muscles can be built up over weeks, but tendons take years to build strength. That's how some athletes snap their own tendons - with sheer muscle strength that their tendons haven't had the time to keep up with. Cathy Watt, cyclist and achillies tendon come to mind.

I am and was always very active (although to look at me know you would not think so!), but have never broken a bone, and neither have any of my children.

I have tore all the tendons in my right ankle twice and been stung by a few wasps but that is all.

No broken bones here.... but did have a cracked lower rib, caused by my sweet little baby during early stage of child birth... she did this almighty "bungee jump" kick on her way into birthing position.. .....

sh!t a cracked rib is more painful than child birth its self...
