Actually, Dell have taken all their service and after sales off shore to Singapore. So makes life very difficult to get any after sales service and forget spare parts they are just just a dream. I am with Clea, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole either!!

I am with Cleasanta, wouldn't touch Dell, we have them at work and they are terrible.
At home I have an ASUS laptop, but that is only our backup. Have a fluid-cooled desk top (special built) for main use!

Dell source their components from major manufacturers, eg nVidia, but the twist is, Dell have the parts supplied and built to their own specs and budget.

Set out today all excited hoping to come home with a new laptop, instead I've come home cranky!

I had decided on the Toshiba, on the way home I called into a DS store just to get a best price comparison, they offered me $67 off the price of $697..cool I thought, $630 is good, so off to my local DS store in Windsor.

Get to the shop, got ignored for a bit, finally the bloke comes over, the place was empty!

Me : What's the best price you can do for me on this laptop?
Him : You want it on it's own?
Me : umm, yeah, the laptop
    Him : $697
    Me : Yes, it's $697, what's your best price
    Him : $697
Me : Wow, that's very disappointing, one of the city stores gave me a best price of $630, but I try to support local businesses so that's why I've come here.
Him : Go get it from THEM then

Me....turns around and walks out on the rude so-and-so.

So much for trying to support local business!

Thanks Mitte for that, I want a bigger screen though.

Still looking! But getting very close, the sales are starting and yesterday I ran around loads of stores looking at various models. I've managed to up my $$$ range as I've had some extra dog boarders yippee!

Have my eye on a Toshiba L500/00X - found it for $849 so might be able to get it a little cheaper, but seems to be a good deal. If I have time on Sunday when I take some boarders home I will go bargain!
