As others have said, plasmas have a much shorter life than LCD. Also, in general, plasmas use a lot more power, but I would check this before you buy as each model is different. Plasmas also get so hot!

I would go LCD, unless you are after something really massive.

I had a look at VideoPro and they have the SONY Bravia, Full HD LCD for
    $2148 (46 inch) or $2398 (55inch ) and both include this free Playstation 3.

    LCD - good small screens
    Plasma - good big screens
    LCDLED - better then both

Panasonic used to be part of Sony so same technology used, leader at the moment is Samsung - they are the front runners in newer screens eg;led and 3D.
Sony is not a bad brand but is better for cameras etc.

Hubby has been sent to product knowledge conventions for work (OP at Myers, spend most of his time on the tech section)
    Thanks rebec.

Just depends on what PS3 Sony are giving away for free... there are 10 different models of PS3...

    Standard 80gb PS3 is $460 RRP...

IF you know what pS3 is being offered for free etc, just let me know & i can give you RRP.. then as a price guide you can check it out on ebay etc..

My daughter had bought a brand new PS3 120 gb, late 09 model including 1 controller,2 games & free warranty upgrade etc, including staff discount she paid $400-..bloody cheap price
    Ok..Aussie..

I went back to VideoPros website and it's the PS3, 120GB, model CECH-2002A
and they claim it's RRP is $499.95.

ETA...Just went to SONY website to check it out and it's the same as above. So must be a standard bonus no matter who you buy the tv through.
    Same model as above.

Have a look at Grays on line. you will be pleasantly surprised by the pricing and they have to note int he description if there are any dead pixels or scratches on the frame

I never buy anything electrical/electronic 2nd hand. Plus i don't have CC's which you need for Grays.

    Appreciate the suggestion though.

How does that work ? Who are you actually buying the goods from ?

I thought Grays was like ebay. Auctions ect. I'd be a bit wary of buying a large item from the internet.

No Grays is an auction house with warehouses in most capital cities. I just went on their site to see what was going on with tv and as I was there a 52" Sony LCD sold for $1500 + 15% buyers premium + delivery.

Usually you will find they are selling either demo stock, out of date stock or damaged stock (hence the issue eg dead pixel/ scratch on cabinet et must be displayed)

Depends entirely on the auction itself as to whether you recieve manufactuers warranty or grays warranty.

I have purchased truck loads of goods from Grays and there is never an issue when I have needed to return anything.

They have been around for donkeys years....were origionally Gray Esdale Timms

I ended up buying the Sony 55 inch Full HD LCD today.

Went to another JB Hi fi store with the VidePro price of $2339 and the salesman gave me a price that he claimed was only if i bought it there and
then. $2000 even. I jumped at it.

Another $200 neat for the 5 year warranty.

    Get the bonus PS3 too.

I love my 50" Panasonic plasma. Beautiful vibrant picture even in a well lit room with full length windows during the day !

I don't like my Mums 46" Samsung Plasma.. Grainey picture.. Already needed 2 service calls within 3 years due to screen problems.
