    Default Anyone Here Use VOIP?

I'm looking at getting VOIP when I get my satellite broadband, just wondering if anyone uses it and what you think of it. It's not skype, that's another system.

With most of my calls being classified as national calls, going with voip will save me a packet at only 20cents per call untimed! I'll keep a basic landline, so people can call me on that, but want to use the voip to MAKE calls.

    Cheers peeps!

I've got a node phone with internode.on.net. So no more telstra.

I just plugged the ADSL line into the VOIP enabled modem and the phone line connecting my old phone and answering machine into the phone connection of the Modem and internode did their bit and I think it works better than the old Telstra one. Is a lot cheaper. Ie phone call to my sister interstate costs the same as a local call for as long as I want. Bizzarely, phone calls to 13.... numbers cost more.

Phone calls to mobiles are timed but it's cheaper than 1 cent per second that Telstra and Vodafone used charge.

And with the node phone, Internode have an answering service, and they will email you if you have a message, and you can even set it up to email you an mp3 of the voice message if your internet speed can handle it, and I'd suggest if your internet speed capacity can't handle it, then VOIP might not go well either.

I turned the VOIP answering machine off because I have one at home, and if I don't hear the machine beeping I don't remember to check the messages. But I will turn it back on when I go on holidays so I can get my messages on line.
