Default Plans to Build Not Going Ahead at This Stage

As some of you may know we have decided to sell our home and move.

I drew up all the plans for our new home, got a couple of quotes from builders we would choose from, looked at what land is around - then looked at rentals! Had a FIT!!!

Working it all out my husband and I have realised we would lose around $24,000 in rent alone. That doesn't even include rental for a storage place for stuff that wouldn't go into a rental property. Ruddy hell!!!

So, we have canned that idea for the moment, and realise we would possibly be better off just buying another already established home.

Wow, rents have just gone up through the roof in the past 12 months apparently. I'm flabbergasted!

Well that's what's shocked me Laura, without prying, how the hell do you manage it????????????

I saw an article in the local paper last weekend stating that figures have shown that approx. 78% of ppl cannot afford rent.

So how do renters even make ends meet then? Heck, it's hard enough at the best of times just keeping up with things even when you do own your own home, so I'm dumbfounded at how ppl can afford this sort of dollars every week. Can''t get my head around it, I'm afraid.

    Oh, a month?

Yeah well, the rents here for anything halfway decent are about $400+ a week, not a month. I'm not gonna lose 24K for a darned rental whilst we're building.

DA really sorry to hear you've had to can the building project, I know how disappointed you must be. BUT....everything happens for a reason, your perfect house is out there, and you'll find it when the time is right!
