I honestly have absolutely no idea if you are talking about a specific recent post with your OP Occy. I'm a little baffled. I can't say I have particularly noticed posts where people say that other advice is rubbish. I am a bit behind with catching up on what's been going on, maybe I missed it but with regard to Amy86 saying she will not post questions on here, I think that is more because she got 'bullied' when she was asking about Poppy's poos. I know those of you involved probably don't think it was bullying but quite frankly when you have a group of people all 'having a go' at someone, making her feel like crap, I think that pretty much comes under that heading. One person having a go, fair enough but when you all jumped on the bandwagon, it made me cringe. I'm sorry Amy, I didn't post any words of support at the time but I try to stay out of arguments given my previous history.

Occy, instead of posting cryptic messages where everyone is trying to work out who you are talking about why don't you just say who you have a problem with, give them a chance to defend themselves, or not post at all. Everyone is second guessing themselves now.

I'm the same as Tkay... I misunderstood your OP before and now I understand it better I don't really get it.

I think on a public forum with people from all different backgrounds and experiences there is BOUND to be disagreements and even arguements.

I think the key is trying to keep these disagreements/arguements as HEALTHY DEBATES and not letting them turn ugly!!!

I think that EVERYONE on the forum needs to make a concious effort to be understanding and supportive to ALL other memebers. I think that if "newbies" (read - unexperienced dog owners) can't come here to discuss their concerns and ask questions/share experiences then we are letting THEM and their DOGS down!

    Just My Opinion!!!

i agree, people are doing someone a favour by volunteering their advice. so others or the OP should not dismiss it as stupid or "wrong". in the future if you think your advice is different just perhaps start the comment off with "or you could try..." instead of "thats wrong do this" it gives the question asker two options to try, without dismissing the knowledge and suggestion of another member...

I don't think it's about newbies getting belittled with their questions. It's more a case of:
    1. Someone starts a thread asking for advice.
    2. Someone responds with their opinion/idea/advice.
    3. Someone else responds telling previous person that their idea is wrong/crap.

I do agree with you, it's just good manners really. So has this happened recently and I've missed it? Mostly I didn't think it did happen on here, I certainly did not think it was a regular occurrence.
