Hi People, the original idea is to be a happy rap sheet, round up of some good things and the possibly bad-luck silly accident awards etc.
Originally my thoughts were things like - best cooperative rescue, best tear jerker etc.
So it is possible people wouldn't be up for an award if they didn't fit into the selected categories.
The whole thing was not meant to be a competition etc. Just something to bring a smile to people especially after all the sad things that seem to happen and all the losses that people endure.

Ahh I see, I like that idea better than what I originally thought it was. If it isn't an actual competition but just a for-fun type of thing that sounds better. Maybe the categories can even be makeshift, so if something totally weird or amazing or funny happens to someone that doesn't fit into a category, it can still be created just for that event and not necessarily reused. For example, if someone's dog started meowing like a cat one day the dog could win the "Best Inter-Species Impersonator" or the "Amazeballs" or the "WTF" category.

One of the suggested catagories was the bad luck award, but I'm apparently in line behind GSD's, and others...laugh:

There's no point to it, there are no prizes, no actual physical or monetary awards. Maybe just a smile and a lot of laughs. If you can't laugh about something, life is sad indeed, IMO.

What about electronic certificates? Tongue in cheek ones with amusing quotes, encouraging ones for those going through a difficult time etc?

That way peoples money isn't involved - I'm happy to volunteer to do the designing for them - and we still get to do something nice?

We have some people on here that do super work for dogs in need. Others that are branching out in it. I believe they deserve an award every day of the week but that's not why they do it I imagine.

For the rest of us that can't do that for whatever reasons and there are many, we come here to talk with like minded people (and some not). Not award worthy in my opinion.

So I just can't see the reason behind it.

Hi MAC, as I said above:-
the original idea is to be a happy rap sheet, round up of some good things and the possibly bad-luck silly accident awards etc.Originally my thoughts were things like - best cooperative rescue, best tear jerker etc.
So it is possible people wouldn't be up for an award if they didn't fit into the selected categories, maybe they will at some stage!

I started my post after Liza's first one, in between took a phone call, then posted my answer, but I am now up to speed as to what you mean.

So I'll go with whatever as my answer which for me really does mean that. Not the teenager whatever.

But MAC what you said in your original email about Rescue groups/people, they do deserve an award every day, and none of us are denying that.

I know but I was thinking awards, for me awards is for outstanding work.

So it would be given to the same people dedicated to this type of work over and over again. But now that you've added the other stuff then if it's important to other people to have it then "whatever".

Which for me means I don't have an opinion either way and if the masses like it then I'll get into the spirit of things, so to speak.

    Am I making sense.

Sure are MAC, maybe we shouldn't call them awards either (it was the only thing thought of at the time). Maybe "The month that was" honour roll, "Mentioned in the monthly despatches" etc. But I must admit, I do like Angela's idea of electronic certificates!
