I have been ripped off by people on forums, people I have met in real life who needed help and money and support, they suckered in a lot of people, thankfully I didnt give them thousands of dollars as some other people did

Do you all really know each other? There is no way i would allow my money to be in the hands of anyone else, doesnt matter who it is, if something happened, you had a falling out, the person in charge of the money went broke and needed it, could you be 100% sure that they would not touch the money others have put in?

I think it is a silly idea and if people want to send something to another member, they can arrange it case by case between private messages and do it that way.

I know i would never touch the funds (for my own personal use) that others have put in etc. But i guess trust & faith just don't exist anymore between people.

    Fair enough Deb!

What would happen when the fund ran dry and someone deserved some flowers? Who will go asking for money to cover the expenses of the flowers, chocolate etc?

What I am trying to say though...even though we "know" each other here....most of us do not KNOW each other.

I truly believe...when you involve money...you are asking for trouble to be honest and especially to a fund that really needs regular contributions.

.I dont want the "slush fund" for members gifts etc.....i'm willing to participate for the sole purpose to help/ aid rescue dogs only.

Ok...who decides what rescues get help...when the fund is empty. I am saying...I think it would be better on an "ask for help" basis.

Lets say Amanda just asked for money for airfares for a Pei in need and all the funds were used on that. Then Greys come in and says...there is a Greyhound I need to get out from QLD and transported to my place...can I get some help from the fund please? She would be told no because there are no funds left

    I STILL don't like the idea...sorry.

I think it all has become mixed up in peoples heads. Originally GSD thought flowers or something, then everyone thought maybe it would be better to help in aiding rescue dogs or groups.

The same confussion is going on the other poll, and I am getting very frustrated as the whole idea of trying to make people smile, have a laugh etc after all the bad news and losses during the week or fortnight has now turned into people thinking that they will get peeved if they don't get an award! I am starting to think I am in the school yard!
Sorry folks, a simple original thought has turned into an absolute monster for some reason.

Boh...you are not in a schoolyard...but you are amongst a lot of people with differents views, ideas, opinions and different levels of when they would get hurt, disgruntled, upset etc.

Just like people are stating why they think the Slush Fund is a good idea...I am stating why I think it is a bad idea...that is MY opinion and not everybody elses.

I am seeing this from a Forum all-over point of view to be honest. I would dearly that this didn't end up in a sh!t fight.

I have said what I think and will leave it at that.

    Hi Dorte,
No I have had no problem with what you have said, it is good to have various views. It is a combination of comments being said on both of the poll posts currently. I understand different views etc. But all of this has sprung up from just a thought of something so small and a bit of fun. It has quiet honestly turned me off putting simple thoughts across.

Sigh, understand how you feel Bo.
it's like this, I agree with you re the awards for a bit of light-hearted fun. But my opinion doesn't matter whatsoever in the big scheme of things. I'm not prepared to put ideas to Morgan until I have ascertained how many members of the forum think it is worth while doing or trying. If the majority say yes, then I would ask that it be done. I feel that is fair system to use for all new ideas. The forum has to be considered as a whole.

Having said that, I noticed that you just posted in the award thread to clear up misconceptions a few ppl may have had, and at this stage it's looking like a pretty popular idea!

Hi DA, I understand that you need to get input for any new ideas etc. Totally agree. It is just that it divided into two different things and then everyone seems to be getting confussed etc. I think it might be that I am having a bad day to day with work etc! Roll on 5.00pm.

I think it may be ppl do get themselves confused. (Can I win that one sometimes..often..always? )

Just simply clarifying for those ppl helps to sort any problems out though ITKWIM.

    Roll on 5pm Bo!
