I bought up - face to face - with some members about doing something for someone and the general consensus was - we don't have spare money.

Look - honestly - if I want to give someone something I will. I give amanda hell, I give dorte the ****s, I give DA a migraine - I give freely

Some do have spare money, some do not. I do not envisage it as a so and so donated x amount of dollars, aren't they wonderful thing. Once the money has been donated it is gone as far as the donater is concerned (anonymously except to the account holder) and then is part of the pot to be dealt with as needed. This has worked very well on a forum I am on with no trouble. It was not a pet forum and used for hospitalisations, death of loved ones. There would have to be some criteria laid down...not Di has chipped a fingernail. let's send flowers.

What you are saying DI makes lots of sense. Donations should be anonymous and a criteria for when it is used should be laid down.
Is it possible there maybe a florist among us?

IMO...I don't like the idea...sorry. I feel it will cause some issues to be honest. Not all of us have extra funds...we sure as hell don't with 3 dogs now...having just paid for eddie and ruby re rescuing...desexing etc.

I need to feed my dogs before I can contribute to a "slush fund". This might sound "hard" but those are the facts in my house.

So I oppose to the decision of a slush fund. I think it will put some members in a less than desirable position.
Hi Dorte, I understand what you are saying and many others will also. There should be no pressure on anyone for this. It is also understandable that not everyone will have any extra funds. I know I go through periods of "no extra funds", but every now and then I do have extra funds. There would have to be a strict criteria as Di has said. I think we should see how it goes over a couple of months.

    Girls...

My "blonde brain" has come up with some suggestions in regards to "slush fund" ....your opinions, idea's & criticism are greatly appreciated.

What are your thoughts & input etc ?????????

If the "slush" fund & me as the account holder has been approved, please rest assured i will never disclose who has donated funds or the amount of funds they have personally donated etc..... It will privacy 100%.

If someone / member questions the amount of funds avail then i can pm them a copy of bank statement showing the amounts deposited but i will blacken out the name of depositor's info for privacy reasons.

I think it may be a good idea to have say at least 3 of us in the "slush fund" group, that way we can decide on what appropriate gift to send to whoever is in need etc. I also think it's a good idea to set a $$$ limit per gift.

So who would like to join in with me as member on the "slush fund" group.

    Who decided who gets flowers?

How often do you have to post to be eligle for a "present"?

Lets say...a member who doesn't "regularly" post as in every day come in and say...their dog died...they are sick etc. Are they eligible for flowers even though they do not come here every day?!?

I think people are treading in "dangerous" grounds to be honest and can very easily alienate some members!

    Count me out

    Girls..

TBH i would rather set up a "slush fund" for the rescue dogs rather than for us members.

Or on a monthly basis we could either donate funds to different rescue organizations etc or donate funds to aid with transport costs etc of dogs from pounds to rescue groups etc.

So what are everyone's thoughts etc ???

The way it worked in the other place was there were 3 people, you have to have odd numbers. There was a criteria, nothing was ever announced that it was being done. If someone chose to say a public thankyou that was fine. It never turned into a pissing contest. The criteria was laid down..hospitalisations, death, a couple of others. We were a small forum too. It did not matter if a member was new or old. The 2 non account holding members were the ones that said how about....... and the account holder did a tie breaker if needed. I think we just donated or accepted the gift quietly and just loved that we were thought of. It may or may not work here, who knows.

Ok...we use this beaut forum and we all enjoy coming here...right?

How many members have donated (excluding the first donations made when it was initiated) to keep advertising off this site...nobody...donations are at $0.

I think it might sound good on paper...but not in practice. And what happens when funds run out and someone is "eligible" for a "present", but didn't get one due to no money in the fund?!? Now THAT is a situation that will cause MAJOR issues IMO!

I felt bloody horrible that I couldn't contribute to Amanda and her and Choppa helping the Staffy in need! I had spent all my money on getting Eddie out and desexing Ruby, so I just didn't have anything to give.

Maybe just maybe our spare change could go to good use by donating it to Morgan so we actually have a Forum to go to and one without advertisements...food for thought guys.........
