Default Silly Little Question for Any Laundry Gurus!

So some months back I bought myself a new pillow, it's lovely and big and squishy, but I haven't been able to use it because of the pillowcase!

It's an oversized pillow, so there was only one choice of case, its good quality, but I'm finding it too scratchy to sleep on - I've put it through the washing machine numerous times, stuck it in the dryer etc to no avail.

Any suggestions to soften it up so it's feel like I'm sleeping on a baby's bum?

.....umm if you get my drift!

Try soaking it in a cup full of Epson Salts.

Um, pop it on a rock and thump it with a straw broom.
    Not much help am I?

Seriously, soaking often works, and hen soaking in fabric softenere rather than just using the softener in the wash helps.

Make one? Get a friend with a sewing machine to do it and you supply the fabric you like? Pin a soft material remnant around it...ummmm

Epsom salts - good idea. And yes I was thinking about the whole rock-bashing thing.

*sigh* my favourite pillowcases are falling apart, but then they must be nearly as old as I am! Sooooooooooo soft!

Lol Di, if I can get the old sewing machine I was given to work, then I might just do that!

My dear old mum swears by the soaking in salt trick... & i wouldn't have a clue if it works or not, i just use fabric softener

I'm usually looking for very quick ways to stiffen up new towels in winter time.. summer is no prob, i just leave then out on the line for a few days in dry hot windy weather, seems to do the trick ok

Nah, I think what Af means Di is when you buy them. Brand new it's like they've got this yukky coating on them and you can't even dry yourself properly. I usually wash new towels a couple of times and leave them in the sun till the next day too.

I wash new towels too, but then dry them in the shade, and sometimes pop them in the dryer when they are not quite dry - they come out all soft and fluffy! If I leave them in the sun they go hard.
