Default Who Here Has Satellite Broadband?

I've looked at satellite broadband over the years, but for a decent download limit it's just too expensive, I think Di said hers was about $90 a month - can't afford that.

But tonight I saw an ad for Westnet with some pretty good deals which I will investigate.

Who has it, who is your provider, how much do you pay and what do you think of it? I know nothing about it!

I have it and no very little about it sorry

only that it doesnt work in storms, its about $90 a month but I have no idea what that is for, the EX pays it atm.

Not sure what you want to know, there is a reciever on the tv antenna, cable runs throught he roof to the wall, outlet inside which has a cable to the router, the router has an arial that the laptop picks up,

    Think its through westvic

    Von..

I have "unwired" satellite broadband..... i bought my start up package including modem & 1 month usage for $130- at d*ck smith... prices are great i'm on a $24-month pre paid plan that can be bought at major retailers or direct debit. Sometimes i do experience cut outs during thunderstorms.

I am very happy with unwired, great service & fast connections, great prices etc.. i tried telstra & optus but their broadband was slower than my old AOL dial up & a hell of a lot dearer than unwired.

DA ... satellite broadband is wireless internet, ok not really wireless though as their is a usb cable from modem to PC, unless your PC is infa-red. Just plug in modem to power & PC & away you go, all set up & ready to get online to dog forum..

    Oh thanks AF.

Then yes, I have satellite broadband. But I don't pay anything like what Di does per month. I took it for 3 years at a reduced cost as a trial, and it is half of that.

The wiresless is great because the kids can just play their gameboys and x-box etc without having to plug in to something or other. (I have absolutely NO idea what!)

I have found it really good, and very convenient just being able to get internet access from anywhere in the house. I lost it once for a few minutes, but that's all so far, and have had it for almost 1 year now.

Satellite broadband is for those of us in the sticks that don't get normal broadband coverage. They put a satellite dish on your roof that transmits the signals rather than having it through the phone line. Only option I have here unless I stick with dial-up.

I can't get wireless broadband as I don't get mobile reception here either.

It's so annoying when I see companies like tpg advertising 80gig for $50 a month! Compared to skymesh which has 60gig for $300! Lol, I'm only looking at maybe 3-4gig a month which is about $40, plan prices have come wayyyy down from a year ago!

It would be nice to look at the odd video that gets posted, and to free up my home phone!

Thanks Grey's. No, I have wireless then, not satellite! Our place back in Qld had one of those stupid looking dishes on the roof. We took it down, welded it here and there and used it for a sled. Lots of fun!

Um, that wasn't constructive, was it? *embarrassed face thingy*
