Thread: Great GPs

    Default Great GPs

As some of you would know, my poor Ralph has terminal cancer. The cost of vets, surgery and medication has been astronomical. The vet charges $6 each for Tramal! Anyway, I had to go to the doctor today for a check up after getting an angiogram last week and while we were talking I told him about Ralph and the cost of medicine. He has dogs too and he has been hit up for astronomical costs for over the counter medication. Anyway as a favour he wrote me a script (plus repeats) for Tramal 50mg which will only cost me $11.95 for 20 at the chemist! Now that is a big saving against $120 for 20 capsules at the vets!
    Thank you doctor!

A couple of friends told me their doctors do it too for their dogs when it is things like valium, or any medication that is same for humans as well as dogs etc.
So there are some understanding GPs around!

When Holly was ill and we needed a specific antibiotic to treat her long term. The vet suggested I phone around a few pharmacies to check how much I could get them from there (as it was the same stuff for humans as dogs). I saved an absolute fortune on this particular antibiotic. i can't remember the exact figure but we are talking hundreds of dollars

Wow! What a lovely doctor you have - but I wouldn't mention it to too many people in your area, iykwim....

There are quiet a few doctors in the area, so no one could really pin down who it is or which practice. Plus anyone who knows me and the number of doctors and specialists I normally see over any given period of time wouldn't work it out either!

Yeah I thought it was pretty good. On the script plus 2 repeats that will save me $324!

My dogs have been given Keflex for infections by vet...they cost a bloody fortune. You get a course of Keflex from the GP for about $20
