I am surprised actually. If I were to buy a puppy, I would visit the breeders, examine the parents, etc, not just over an email and/or call... I understand that you didnt actually choose a puppy at the time, Ferrero, and I dont mean to be rude, but I would never pay a deposit unless I had seen the parents in person, talked to the breeder face to face, all that stuff.
Then again, Im 15, I have no experience with these things, so I might be very wrong.

masha, many ppl around Australia purchase dogs and puppies from breeders interstate on a regular basis. Rarely are the purchasers financially able to visit the dog first, or do they have the time to do so.
Same with many rescue dogs going to new homes from interstate. All correspondecne is done via computer and telephone calls. This fellow is the first true scammer I've come across yet.
Oh no, hang on, I just remembered I discovered one in india some time ago who was a scammer, trying to sell non-existent dogs here in Oz.

I'd be very interested to here any other stories, as I've heard them all from him and his his so-called message boy on Mobile number deleted by Moderator!!!

I know it's none of my biz, but I don't think it's right to post someone's mobile number on a public forum without their permission. They might well be a scum bag, but that's no reason to post their private info.

Only did it to try and prevent someone else being jabbed by this bloke -- and if anyone who he has rorted in the past would like to contact him, then the info is there.

I've paid no deposit, money hasn't even come into the equation yet for my non-existent pup. I've mentioned it and the breeder has skirted the issue. She would rather talk about dogs. IMO that's the way to be - dog first, money second. If a breeder is all about deposits be wary. If they won't let you cone see the parents be more wary.

Hmmm --hindsight is great !!! Unfortunately, my dear wife planned this as a surprise birthday present for me ---and this scuzbag took advantage of her trusting ways. Anyway, just wanted to let people know about his scam, so that others don't get caught --- as far as putting a mobile number on the net, I can't see how different it is to him having a mobile number on his scam site ---surely prevention is better than cure ? I believe strongly that he should not be protected, but ostracised for his behaviour.

    Hi MissingNewf,

If you've looked through various threads you would have seen that members here are fully aware of what a con-artist he is.

My advice to you is to contact ABC. They will be able to advise you at length on the best way to go, as they are the ppl gathering together names of all those who have been duped by this DH in Australia.

I have deleted the contact e-mail address for the person in charge of this investigation, but Ferrero may still have the e-mail address recorded somewhere. Perhaps PM her and kindly ask.

I'm so sorry, your wife has learnt a very expensive lesson, as I'm well aware of the hefty funds you would have lost.
There are some good newfoundland breeders out there, unfortunately your wife chose a con-man. I'm very sorry.
