Thread: I've Decided to Get Surgery

Almost my entire spine. I have 3 curves. I have tried pretty much every alternative therapy you can think of, holding off surgery for around 20 years.
I doubt it can get much worse, the way I am headed without surgery is the same as if surgery fails anyway. I have nothing to lose.
I guess the orthopedic guy will also get a neuro guy involved and if so I will specifically ask for Mr D'urso.

First surgery was done by an ortho then the second by a neuro.

Pugger. It must be so awful to live in so much pain every day. I have a bad back, like most Mother's, and it really gets me down sometimes but it must be nothing compared to what you're going through. Congratulations on making the brave decision to go ahead with the surgery. I really really hope it works for you.

There is no risk to your spinal cord if the operation is at your waist or lower.
nope...but there is a risk to your cauda equina nerves (runs from about L3 and down), which controls sexual function, peeing and pooping!

I would NEVER let an Ortho surgeon touch my spine again...only a neuro surgeon!

Good luck Pugger - it's a huge decision to make and I know that everyone on here will be thinking of you when it happens and sending lots of healing vibes your way.

3-6 months of no housework? Oh I'm sure it will be 6 months teehee.
