When I was young I was convinced by my elder brother and cousin that I was adopted and that even if I asked the adults they would tell me no so they wouldn't hurt my feelings. Naturally when I asked the adults they assured me I wasn't..I was confused for a long time.

All dressed up for a day in town, mum said now don't get dirty. I went and made mudpies, mum was furious and asked why I was playing with dirty mud. My reply it's not dirty I washed it first.
My young cousin asked my friend what are you drinking, milo. Cousin then asked can I have a taste of your lo.

I remember lying in bed one night and could hear something outside my bedroom window, I guess I was about 7 or 8. It was a kind of scraping noise and I became convinced it was someone dragging a dead body down the driveway which ran the length of the house. I was terrified, when I heard Mum going to bed I whispered to her "Mum, someone's dragging a dead body outside, I can hear it scraping!"

Well, Mum sent my Pop out to investigate the perpetrator - it was a hedgehog!

When I was young my brother used to bribe me to dress up in hand-stitched rabbit and possum skin vests and booties like Daniel Boone, jump out the window and go hunting after midnight while Mum and Dad were asleep.

When I was young same brother convinced me that if I didn't howl at the moon along with the dogs, they would turn into werewolves. I've had a fear of werewolves ever since, even though I know they aren't real.
