Is like NZ. Auckland is like Sydney and futher north is really warm. They grow oranges. Even Invercarghill wasn't as cold as Canberra gets at the same time of year when I was there. And they did have late snowfalls (October) the year I visited.

I've got one inverter AC which seems to do for the whole house if I shut the right doors and windows.

The house I used to live in, was the same temp outside as inside and I've heard the new tuscan villas with no eaves and no solar passive house placement and wall insulation, and no wall or ceiling vents - get much hotter on the inside than the outside cos the heat comes in the windows and can't get out.

The house I live in now, I looked at it on a day that was 30'C plus and it was cool inside despite all the doors being open for house inspection, and when I came back for a second look - it was 40'C outside and about mid 20s inside - whoo hoo. I wanted that house right then SO BAD. Going home to 40'C inside I was not looking forward to. Fortunately Real Estate agent didn't take advantage. He never figured me out, and I saw him lots when I was house hunting.

So we inside with the a/c on until Frosty decides she needs a bit of sauna treatment outside.

Air conditioning is our friend! Bugger the cost, I'd rather we were all comfortable, though I do use the ceilings fans too.

Heelers were bred for our conditions so I really do not want them accustomed to air con etc all the time so they spend lots of time outdoors and find their own ways to cool off. The pups though do have the pool etc where as older dogs go to the canal. When I am away for a day etc I want them accustomed to all climate variables. Yes I also leave them out in rain, shelter is readily available in different places. Winter too they are out or in, snug shelter available too if they chose.
