Default Anybody Got Any Experience Dealing with Centrelink?

My end of year (2009) payment is STILL waiting to come through. I have received notification both verbally and in writing that last financial year the family tax benefit I received was under my entitlements, and I would be receiving $2500 as a 'top up.'

I am STILL waiting. I have received written confirmation from the Tax Dept. that I owe no funds to them, and that Centrelink was been send the data. Centrelink blamed the ATO for not 'pushing the correct data buttons' as the reason for the delay.

Now Centrelink keep promising me that the funds owed to me will be in my account within the next fortnight. They don't arrive, so I call again. Same thing - within the next fortnight. FFS, this is just going on and on!

Is there any place or someone I can contact to get this sorted out, as we could really do with funds?

ohhh DA.. dont get me started on CL, we had so much trouble with them & their silly bloody policies.

okies my teen "J" turned 16, so i get the usual letter stating that i am no longer entitled to family payment, but instead we can claim Austudy for her because she is still in school, but no Austudy for her because of my OH's "business" earnings etc, ( they accessed the business's earnings & not my OH's personal wage) so they then offer to put "J" back on my family payment ( now this is the part that confuses me, family payments are based on parents individual tax returns, wages etc & not what the "business" it self earns )... wish CL would make up its mind what payments "J" is entitled too as we were sick of calling them, filling out forms & visiting local CL office.

So, you're getting nowhere AF? Jeez, why do they give everyone the run around! God forbit if the public did anything wrong.

There's gotta be somewhere or someone a person can demand a case be investigated. Way it's going it'll be time for the next payment to me before this arrives. Total bull****!

    DA...

opps, Sorry i should have made myself clearer, it was nearly 4 yrs ago that we had probs with CL, "J" is now nearly 20yrs old. After all the running around to & from CL & the stress CL put us thro we just gave up & couldn't be bothered to claim any benefits for "J" ( not that the benefits would have been great $$$ anyway ) & now "J" has her own wage earning job, but we still class her as dependent on us as she is our child & still living at home

There are, or were, 3 levels you can appeal to. You can ask for a review, then a review from a tribunal outside CL then Ombudsmen. We are going to have to do this as they have taken son's disability pension, deeming that insurance co is paying him. It isn't.

    Thank you Di!

Apparently it has already gone to a review officer, who has stated that there is a hiccup with their data-flow. They can see that the ATO has hit the button to pay me, yet their stupid effing computers won't process that 'data' yet. If that makes sense. God I'm getting frustrated with them, though. If nothing happens by this final cut-off date they've given me, hen thanks, I will try for a further review followed by ombudsman. Thanks again.

Hence it makes it exremely difficult to live when your in full time study and cant work. Now im at the stage wherer i have to ring them every day to see where my claim is at because they still havent told me whats happening with the latest one.. ive been waiting 14 weeks to see if they are going to a pprove it or not...

They just sent my old dad a bill for $30,000 lol, a bloomin pensioner with no assets!

They reckon they overpaid him 4 yrs ago.. He reckons they can have the body. Be interesting to see how it goes down, hell of a lot of stress to go through though, good thing he hords all CL paperwork.

Yes, and it is all bad... We had to pay a huge bill to CL, and that was after THEY kept ignoring our advice that they had stuffed up our Child Allowance and were paying us too much... They insisted they were right untill tax time came..
