I too am a member of DOL, but have only posted a couple of times, and forgot about it.

It's not as personal as here, too many ppl and the set-up was a little confusing for this old brain. Lol.

Heard lots of bad stuff about it Judge, but that's just hearsay, so I think you need to discover that for yourself.

Besides, don't have time to be here, there and everywhere!

LOTS of GREAT INFO ABOUT DOGS ON THERE, but be prepared to be shot down if you ask the wrong question, or dont agree with something, they all hang in a group and they attack.
I love the threads where the usual suspects all get on there high horse, thinking they are above the poster, from what i have watched, give up as there is no way they will see your point of view.
You might ask a simple question about something, and the first response is something negative, like the reply is only there to stir up the rest of the gang.
    Its good for a laugh

DOL is a purebred dog forum, but owners of cross bred dogs are encouraged to join. However, cross breeders are not welcome, nor is the glorification of or advertising of cross breeding.
I realise that that happens everywhere, but when it is downright nasty attacks on people who have been there for a while and bickering between one another it's disgusting IMO. That was what I was referring to. I was reading training articles and puppy raising articles before picking up Batty and I was appalled. I'm so glad to have found here and I hope it stays the same way here as it is now for good.

Take pride in being such a happy friendly place, admittedly we went overboard with Dis, in saying that Dis was also causing TONNES of trouble that should have been stopped far sooner than it was. We can't keep suspecting her of continuously coming back and accusing new members of being her or being trolls.

If it were just a difference of opinion or someone posting about their Designer Dog litter for sale it wouldn't be so bad, but the majority of the attacks that I saw started because the replier didn't like the original poster, the replier then attacks the OP and a gang mentality forms. Then it's just follow the leader...

Hey Angela, the bold part...this forum is where I find it the opposite. Amazing once again how we all see things differently.
I find here on this forum, there is no leader, no pack mentality, all members will simply give their own opinions. That's why i like it. Ppl are strong enough and honest enough to stand behind what they say individually, which is a real pleasure IMO.

Precisely I lurked here for a few days before signing up and it was a pleasure as I found this site after DOL.

Not to mention that if the young ones get carried away guidance is offered instead of just calls to ban them. It is delightful reading through everyone's posts here, there is far more respect shown towards each other as people even when the topic is contentious and even when an opinion isn't liked you all manage to explain your position without belittling, insulting or degrading anyone. That gives me a lot of respect for all of you.

So does that mean that I am not welcome because....I KNOW...a lot of them would regard me as a BYB even though I have learnt my lesson?!

Or do I just join and lurk, maybe post a little (staying out of the fights!) without introducing myself or telling them about me and my dogs, pups etc??

For The Record.....I much prefer here then anywhere else. Im on another forum thats mostly U.S. based and I CANT KEEP UP.

I like having a few members and knowing them all (sort of) and knowing there situations, what there reactions will be to certain things, what upsets them, what dogs they have etc etc.

SORRY MORGAN FOR STARTING A THREAD ABOUT THE "OTHER FORUM"! I WAS JUST REALLY CURIOUS TO SEE IF IT WAS ANYTHING LIKE HERE

I am a member there, joined this one & that one at the same time. I started using both but then preferred this one so hardly ever look at the other one, think I only have about 20 posts in there.

What is it like? Ive noticed they can be very nasty to "newbies" etc.

Is it only for purebred dog owners or can anyone join?

Are you a member and if so do you like it etc?
I was a member since 2004 till last year, I think it's a good forum, certainly lots of good info provided by very knowledgable people on all manner of subjects, as with all forums there is a lot of poo to wade through though.

There are a few cliques going on there that are quite disturbing I found. but I guess that happens everywhere though.

Some newbies can get a nasty responce but that is a given on all forums. I dont see a higher nastyness from there than any other dog forum.

Anyone can join but it is set up as an exclusive ANKC purebreed forum, talk of other purebreeds that are not ANKC registered is tollerated though.
It seems any talk of X breeding brings out a set of people who like to throw out childish remarks and a dismissive posting attitude.

I recinded my membership due to the predictability of the forum and it seemed only rehashed topics were happening. I got a bit bored reading the same ole same ole by the same people. With the same opinions.

But I think its a great forum, and I think the more you see the better.

I remember when I first posted on there & someone tried to start an argument with me, I was trying to help & give advice about something I know about & got shot to pieces by some idiot who obviously just didn't agree & she was trying to put words in my mouth. Now I have learnt to try to not say too much on forums.
