I've been a member since 2006. I like it there. Sure there's bitchiness, but like BullyT said, no worse than what went on here recently.

I said some dumb stuff in the past and got lots of **** flung at me for it, but I'm glad I stuck around. I've learned ****loads about dogs and, believe it or not, photography too.

If you are thinking of joining perhaps lurk for a while and get a feel for the place

Apparently I haven't learned how to speak like a lady from DOL though!

Wow! Not sure I could imagine any more nastiness that what I have encountered here! I think to a degree its normal as lots of people have strong and differing POV's! BUT...some of what I have read in here is just too funny for words! Lol

I lurked there for 4 days as a guest and they are easily four times worse than what you experienced here.

I read through easily 40 threads in the 4 days that I was lurking there and each one managed to go from a topic I was genuinely interested in into a massive b*tchfight. It was disgusting frankly and if I were the owner of that forum I would be embarrassed about it.

I will never go back there again.

I refer to it as "that other forum" for the reasons Di Dee mentioned. Promoting sites that directly compete with the one you're on is usually a bannable offence.

I like it sort of. I find the training stuff and the vet advice - can be of a much higher level than here - there's more people working as vets/vet nurses and more people posting who are in the top level of competition. But the threads move too quick and die too fast to follow most of the time. I find it impossible to have an actual dialog with anyone so most of my posts are "hit and run", I post but I don't often go back to see if anyone commented. Sometimes it's like my posts are invisible which makes me feel loved and wanted but I can understand why people there tend to only talk to people they've already connected with or know.

Here is easier to have actual conversations and follow up on threads that you posted in.

I love DOL, have been a member for years. There is back stabbing, but i find it is more in real life than on DOL. A lot of people have met at shows and know each other, and because of that a lot of crap can go on off line.

The Admin is great and if you dont like what someone has said, either put them on ignore, or report them and let Admin deal with it.

I have met many many many good friends through dol

I'm a member but don't use the forum.

For me it's just like going to a dog show, you keep running into people you know, so you don't get to chat with new people.

Having said that if you've got breeding, whelping or young puppy queries you get good although sometimes varied responses.
