    Default Having a Bad Day....

I received a phone call early this morning from my grandmother. My cousin has passed on at 1:45am AEST.

It was rather sudden although he has been battling a brain tumor for the last 6 years and sadly lost the battle this morning. He was happy, healthy and doing very well the last time I saw him. He has been through every treatment possible and 4 months ago they gave him one month. They said there was nothing else they could do for him except make him comfortable. We were lucky to have him with us for as long as we have. I will never forget how brave he has been through everything, he was always laughing and always enjoying himself.

My aunt is not handling this well and I will be flying over to be with her tomorrow morning. I'm feeling very lost realising that I will never speak to him again. He's always been like a brother to me more than a cousin, he's been there for me through everything, just as I have for him.

I miss him already. I'm sitting here playing the last voicemail he left me last week, and I still can't believe that he has gone. I suppose it will hit me after the funeral.

    Dear Angela

I am so sorry for your loss

I know how hard it is to lose someone close to you. I lost my mum 18 years ago. She was having a bypass operation and unfortunately never woke up from this surgery...she died on the operating table.

It was extremely hard and I also remember going through letter she had written...even my old attendance book from school where she had signed...in fear I would forget her handwriting etc.

Remember...this lovely forum is here for you in this very difficult time...use us as a shoulder to cry on...use us to vent...it helps

    Angela.........

I am so sorry for your loss.

Please remember that there was nothing you or anyone else could have done to prolong his life any more than it already had been. Be very grateful that you had him for the time you did and that he is no longer in pain and waiting for the end.

Reminisce about the good times and those are the precious memories you will forever keep in your heart. Try to remember him as he used to be....happy and healthy.

As Dorte said....we are here for you if you need us

My thoughts are with you during this terrible time.

I am so very very sorry. We all get through grief in our own way in our own time. Many hugs.

    Angela,

The following is a poem that was read out at my uncles funeral....I have it laminated in a photo frame next to his photo....it gives me comfort......I hope it offers you a little too.

MISS ME - BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little--but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
    Miss me--but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me - But Let me Go!
