    Wai' nyuntu palya?

I am stuffed if I will expect the Anangu of Central Australia and West and North to speak English.

While it might be fair to expect migrants to speak English, I don't think it's fair to expect Anangu and other natives on their country to speak it or even to learn it if they don't feel like it and it's not like we provide enough resources to make it easy for them. I also don't think it fair we expect refugees to speak English on arrival - it's hard to learn a new language when they're trying to kill you back home, but many do speak English.

And being a South Australian, that little ceremony for re-locating convicts from the UK to NSW has not much to do with me. Each state and territory was founded separately, we came together as a commonwealth on January 1, year 1901 and we really ought to celebrate that day as our National Day, not Sydney's special invasion day. And if we want to include the original locals - then maybe the day we gave them the vote and allowed them to become full citizens - 1967 I think it was, there abouts anyway.

Is shocking to think how progressive we (South Australians at least) were about giving women the vote, but how nobody (in power) thought Aboriginals were human somehow. And with idiot stuff like the invasion of the NT in the last year of the Howard Govt, makes me wonder if we can make any progress.

I was all for Government managing the social security of any parent who was wasting their money on drugs (of all kinds) instead of feeding their kids properly and making sure they went to school - why base it on race?

Yes May 27 would be a good day, weather a little unpredictable but that's half the fun.

Northern Vietnam? Umm, maybe. My friend (Linda) has told me a bit about there culture, but I dont know too much, but that sounds familiar.
I went in class for German for 1yr - cant remember how to say "hello"
I find it much easier to learn a different language from friends and family who influence me more.

Ask Linda if they are from an area up near the Chinese border. They live in the hills and valleys near a place called Sapa and they use indigo dyes extensively for clothing.

It is beautiful countryside. Here are some Hmong woman. (sorry it is not the best pic....)
