    What's a doula????

I have had a variety of jobs too - I've driven forktrucks, packed aluminium strips into cartons, veterinary nursing, merchant fraud investgator, admin manager, office manager, health club director, sponsorship manager and a PA.

Some things I'm really grateful evolved over time. Like the child certificate thing. I don't want someone untrained taking care of my kids. My uncle used to drive the school bus, and all he needed was a license, he could kick any kid off anywhere etc. He was good but still..

At 15 I got a summer job working as a shop assistant at a department store - and got assigned into the busiest department on my first day - the Christmas decorations! The senior staff weren't too happy to begin with but I thrived under the pressure. I ended up working there for 4 hours a week on late night shopping night during the school term for the next 2 years, as well as every school holiday. I'd turn up and they'd send me to whichever department needed an extra body.

I started out as a 15 year old in a childcare centre as a floater and ended working with kids from then on in. Next year when my daughter is 12 her first "job" will be volunteering at the local RSPCA and the elderly home - she can't wait!

My first job was as a checkout chick at BiLo when I was 15. Back when there were still 1c and 2c coins, and no eftpos yet. We accepted cash or cheque LOL. This was in the early 90s. Before that, my mum would pay me extra pocket money for doing the ironing for her - does that count??

When i was about six, mum used to make us collect the eggs, chop wood and bring it in, clean the horse paddocks and put the manure on the gardens, weed vegie patches etc.

We earned our pocket money this way and they were our "jobs" lol

My first real job - 18 years old and started a vet nurse traineeship at a really crappy vet clinic where i was bullied by the staff and had to work 15 hour days on a 9 day roster.

Wasnt the greatest so left after 3 months and now im doing a vet nursing course so im fully qualified when im finished and working in my partners, parents pool shop in the meantime.
