11 or 12. I made rings out of copper & gemstones such as opal. I crocheted bikinis for sale. I cleaned houses. We weren't given pocket money & except for food & a roof, had to support ourselves.

Gosh, you can all remember back then???? *gasp*

My first job ever would have been when I came back to Oz as a 15/16 year old. Worked in various places part-time (but all at once) all over Surfer's Paradise. Most were night-time jobs so I could bum on the beach all day. I remember a tourist shop where I had to speak some japanese, and I remember this club where I had to dress like an effing Nazi, swastika and all. That wasn't fun, and I don't think i lasted long there. lol.

First real serious full-time job was on the Fraser Coast working with animals.

Do you mean paying jobs ? 5 years old my sister and I picked wildflowers and mushrooms in the paddocks and sold them by the side of the road.

My first paying job was at Maccas as a 15 year old. I worked in a pet shop for 18 months when I was 11 but that was volunteer and not paid (friends owned the shop).

My first job was in childcare (you didn't need a certificate to do it back then) and then I went on to start a hairdressing apprenticeship.. hated that..

I've been a kitchen hand, lay midwife, doula and nurse since then and also owned a modern cloth nappy business and am now nearly a shrink G-d help us
