    * People who think grocery shopping is an family event, then appear shocked when their three year old cries

Not a nice statement. We always shop together as a family (me, hubby, 4yo & 2yo). Our kids are very well behaved at the shops. Why shouldn't we do it as a family?

I think it's the appearing shocked when the child cries bit that's the problem

I don't often take my kids shopping cause they drive me bonkers.. but I take them if I have their father there to help.

Of course you should. I've seen kids be dragging kicking and screaming into supermarkets. I just mean it really bothers me to see such a distressed child being totally ignored. Of course it's not always like that, just when I do see that it is bothersome. JMO.

Exactly. I remember feeling like going to the grocery store was some kind of unique torture.

It's not an attack on parents or children who enjoy it. It's just something that niggles me the wrong when the child is crying and being totally ignored or the parent seems shocked.

Oh, I hate it when my mates say lol instead of laughing. Or one of my mates says 'sad face' or 'happy face.'
