We get a free check each year at the doctor, paid for by work, which is great! It's so important to get a professional check even if you keep and eye out yourself. I've already had one mole removed (it was benign) so I am very careful.

My husband has an appoinment this week at the skin cancer clinic. He has them regularly as he grew up on the beach in a beachside suburb and his mum has had several cancers already removed. My husband has had one or two that were suspect and were burned off.

Hey Anne, can you explain to me how skin cancer is treated? I don't know much about it and I'm very curious.
    Thanks!

I don't know much about it. My husbands suspected ├žancers were simply burnt off in the clinic. I know my MIL underwent surgery but it was long before I met my husband.

Sorry to sound ignorant, but there are skin cancer clinics? Are they in Melbourne? I asked my doctor last year about having a full body skin cancer check and he told me that I "worried too much" and I really didn't need to but *sigh* he would if I really wanted to. The only tan I get now comes from a can! Although I was so angry with myself last week, I was sitting outside reading, got waaaayy to caught up in my book and got sunburnt

I don't understand either so don't feel ignorant.

I have virtually translucent skin (except when you get a drink in me, then I'm tomato! ) so once a week in winter me and mum do a full body check, and twice in summer. I've never heard of a doctor doing it though. :S
