The tumor is benign. It developed...Well it was discovered when I was about twelve. I've been under the knife five times, I've had many aensetics (sp) etc. Right now they're stopping my hormone production so more tissue can't grasp the tumor. There's really nothing they can do for it now but they prevent it from growing. I have an IUD so I don't get periods. I don't really understand how it all works but it's due to my period the tumor grew.

    Hugs.
It sounds a lot worse than it is. I'll be able to fall pregnant and everything. Just won't be an easy pregnancy LOL. I've actually had false contractions, gotta say...Not as bad as I was expecting.

You said it like it is, Disney.

Are they going to try and stop hormone production into your twenties, or what? Not permanently?

Well basically they're looking at the short term because earlier this year, I hadn't had my quarterly ultra sound, and when they did the next one, a sneaky tumor had grown up to five cm (that's huge in tumorland, and to grow that quickly..) Anyway, I scheduled to have it removed and one day it just...Exploded. Luckily they saved my ovary. So now they don't want any of those..

I had a choice of going on the pill or having children to stop my dodgy painful 2 week long periods. I chose the pill. I don't think it has anything to do with cancer though, or I think I'd be gone by now. There's a whole bunch of blood tests and checks they should have done but never did since going on the pill fixed the symptoms.

I don't understand how an IUD can affect hormones. Then again got no gynaecologists in the family. I do know IUDs are a lot better than they used to be but given what they are - foreign (irritant) object in the uterus - I prefer chemical means of hormone adjustment, not something that could scar things up.

Hmm, think I might still have some endones left from my knee recon. Then again they're probably past their use by date and I should take them back to a chemist for "safe disposal". They render me flat. Like prone. Like can't move. Certainly sorts the pain in a way that Panadeine Forte cannot match.

I have scholiosis (sp?) and have for a long time so used to manage it quite well but then went and had 4 kids and now have a (badly) prolapsed uterus which make my periods really bad so quite often end up heamoraging (sp?) and in hospital so then can get the morphine. Other than that nothing works, so when you get your periods for anywhere between 2 days and 4 weeks you don't like to plan ahead ! LOL!

I know that feeling Cate! Does your uterus prevent you from having an IUD? It's the best thing I've ever done..It thins the lining of your uterus to the point you don't form a period...I won't lie, the first six months suck because your hormones are in over drive but after that: easy street!

Lets just say (and I hope no men are reading this) my uterus is no longer in my body and the docs keep telling me "Don't sit on the toilet too long or the next thing you will give birth to is your uterus" It is REALLY REALLY bad and I should have got it removed three years ago but DoG I am just too busy!! LOL! Have tried the pill does nothing and apart from having it removed the docs just shrug their shoulders and ask me what I expected! One day it will go and things will improve until then - GIVE ME THE DRUGS!
