You know, I'm still sitting here wracking my brains trying to figure out what one must do before I would go to such an extreme as to ignore someone???

And that there is a perfect example of how this ignore button should be used if one chooses to do so. Their buisness only.

I find it stops me from being tempted to bite peoples heads off if they post in a way I can't handle. Like making posts hard to read. So from my point of view it reduces cyber bullying (by me not of me). I don't know if anyone has me on ignore but if my posts annoy them, I would think it would be a good thing because I don't usually intend to annoy people.

Sometimes I don't respond to posts that I do get to read - it's not personal, I'm just not much into "me too" posts or sometimes I feel it's better not to say anything at all than start a flame war. And sometimes I just have nothing to say on the whatever subject it is.
Totally respect what your saying. I assume when you ignore someone you just hit the ignore button with no song and dance about the fact your going to use it, probably much the way it was intended to be used.

The other day i was told by a member that they were putting me on thier ignore list, basically because of a difference in opinion. the same member asked me a question 2 or 3 days later to which i declined answering having replied that i objected due to being ignored. The member then told me that i wasn't being ignored, so what was the whole point of telling everyong they were putting me on the ignore list???????

Aussie - I don't see a problem with saying - "you're on ignore" before you ignore someone so that they know not to bother trying to harass you. DA and Nattylou - you seem to think that that is some sort of black mark on my character - oh well - I don't. I see it as logical.

I am not going to take the ppl I have on ignore off and nor should I have to. I have no wish to listen to constant whining regarding non-dog related topics nor to people who I believe do not put their dogs first. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it. My choices are not your DA or Nattylou and I do not make comment on what you do so I find it interesting that you, rather than making comment to me, speak about me. I am disappointed and saddened as i thought more of you.

People often say, if you don't like it, don't read it - the point of the ignore function is exactly that. Simple.

I have 5 or so ppl on ignore and I think it has made the forum more pleasant for me.

IMO it's up to each individual if they wish to ignore others etc & i think we all have the right to access such "ignore" options. Whats so wrong with ignoring someone anyway??....IMO we all ignore someone at some point whether it be out in public or on a forum & IMO it doesn't mean that we are being rude etc. I certainly wont take to kindly to being told that i have to read someones post if i don't like them or their opinions etc, i'm certainly not going to be dictated to.

Then it'd be their loss, wouldn't it? Call me crazy, but if I don't like you, I don't like you, and you don't have to do something specific, not everyone likes everyone, and thats just the way of the world. There are people here I don't like, people that annoy me, so why should I have to read their posts if I don't wish to? Believe me, I think it would be worse if we were forced to read posts by people we don't like. I do not understand how you feel this is cyberbullying??

I don't think we should opening be saying 'a certain member said this' because all active members are going to know what you're talking about. I think it's hypocritical to say it hurts my feelings to be publicly told I'm on ignore, and then all but say someone's name on this thread.
It's bound to start an argument, and the last thing this forum needs is another bitchfest!

Sorry, not meaning to single you out Peter you just reminded me.

Well - since this thread is about me apparently - cause I am ignoring ppl - I assumed your comments about "bandying" were related to me. Am I wrong?

Well i was trying to make a point about how it is being used lately. This sort of use is the whole reason its being discussed. If that person doesnt like it, then perhaps they need to address the way they are using it, they did it publicly what difference is it if i do?
