Pugger how can you say such a thing!
Its one day of the year, your pooches and kids will need you for a lot longer than one day.

    Whats happened?

    Aww
You don't have any other family to visit?
Or better, you could spend the day volunteering. Im pretty sure some cities do a meal for the homeless, sorta like a soup kitchen on Christmas day. You could even possibly organise a day with a shelter.
You could organise something special for the kids when they come home.
Is the money shortage because you no longer have two forms of income?

I don't go in for the Christmas hype. No tree or decorations now kids are gone. 25yo just holes up in his flat by choice.

It is the lonliest time of the year for many.
Any friends that you can go to? Anyone who would come over for a visit?
Can you plan special treats for yourself that don't cost money?
A Christmas bubble bath, festive tomato sandwich with favourite music or movie?

I don't think it will be a good one here either. It looks like we may be going to my "daughter's" for a simple meat and salad lunch, then home as pups have to be fed and we have no idea how I will be as I have to take it day by day.

If we were home we too would just be having some meat and creative salads, eg grated carrot with orange juice, grated cheese and sultanas, tomatos with some basil, oil and vinegar.

To me really, it is just another day and unless I am with sons and grandies it really doesn't mean a lot to me.

Amy is my daughter I have when I don't have a daughter. I held her the day after she was born and we both fell in love.. She is now 26, married with 3 kids. I am Nana Didee to them. Her mother is mum1, I am mum2, she says that between us she has one good one, lol.

Aw Pugger... what can I say?

You are stronger than you think, more beautiful than you know, and have a whole life ahead of you where better things can and will happen for you.

Don't stress over one ****ing day in the year!!! The very next morning it will be over.

If you have to muster up a friend, then I think you have a lot to learn about what true friendship is. If you have one or two in a lifetime, you are a VERY, VERY lucky person.
There are a **** load of ppl worse off than you. I know that sounds callous, but it used to help me put the day into perspective after leaving my first husband. I went to a church and had a wonderful dinner with ppl, had a really good time actually. I didn't have to cook, I didn't have to clean, I could just do what I wanted.

I still, however, think your family and friends suck, cause if they knew you at all they would know how you are feeling. That's my two bob worth. I'll just go now...

If I was going to be alone and lived in a place that had some homeless canteens etc I would love to help out on that day. I would get a huge buzz out of it and wouldn't feel so alone.

Presents do not have to be bought, they can be made, biscuits etc. My son did some hand made vouchers one year, may fave one was for a comfortable nursing home. The vouchers can be for anything, a hug, a load of washing done, loads of things.

Yeah Di is right, voucher books can be great! I'm still using the one my son gave me 2 years ago for free coffees. Lol. Best thing he ever gave me in all honesty.

Like Di said, pressies can be made, but they can ALSO be given. A hug, a visit to someone, a night of conversation that you never forget, seeing smiles on strangers faces that usually don't smile, all of those things are worth more than any present money can buy.
When more ppl realise that, Christmas one day will return to what it's all meant to be about. *sigh*

Perhaps Pugger, this year you may find the TRUE meaning of Christmas? *hugs*

In our family wallowing is allowed either for 12 or 24hrs depending on severity of the situation. I will adopt you so I can enforce it. Seriously though, yes, get thinking cap on. I bet you can be very inventive.
