    Default Aaaagggggghhhhhhh!

    Why do web hosts upgrade their services!!

    I am pretty much a techno illiterate but have a web site that I need to keep updated for my rescue services. Just recently my host server was upgraded and now I can't get Dreamweaver to log in to access the files... I know it will be something to do with the ftp thing.

    I tried to contact the woman who set the site up for me but her email keeps bouncing. Luckily she is a member of another forum I am on so I am trying to contact her through there but, how frustrating. I just wish I knew what I was doing as I know it will be something very simple.

    *end of rant*

    An optimist sees the glass as half full;
    A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.

    if they're in the middle of upgrading, it will be a matter of waiting until it's done and trying again.

    If they've changed their ftp address, they should have told you first in an email or something. You might want to check and re-read any email that mentions the upgrade.

    If you can't get the woman that you usually contact, it may be for the same reason the website is down, ie the computers are being rebooted or taken off line for some reason so the email will bounce or not get through until that's done.

    This is why most people upgrade their servers at some ungodly hour of Sunday morning, because this upsets the smallest number of customers.

    Thanks. The upgrade was finished a few weeks ago but I have been os and hadn't even really looked at the email. Today I went in to edit my linnks page and I couldn;t get on. I can access the admin part of the site but not the editing part through Dreamweaver.

    The woman who set it up for me has contacted me though and she is helping me through it.

    It is really frustrating because with most computer applications I am considered an advance user... but web based things lose me.
