Thread: Bugga Me!

  1. #1

    Default Bugga Me!

    Now I'm going to look like the bad guy ( well worse than usual to some )

    I wanted to reply in the other thread but twas closed.
    And this is not to throw rubbish around either....

    But Anne made a comment in the other thread that I believe had quite a bit of merit,

    Yes I agree they do.

    Perhaps it is a settling in phase of the forum? A jostling for leadership of the pack? A learning of who is who at the zoo? Maybe this the adolescent stage of the forum where boundaries are being tested?

    I think that perhaps that is exactly what is happening.
    The forum was chugging along smoothly because we'd reached a stage we were all comfortable with each other and knew each others 'buttons'.

    Not saying that makes any of us right or wrong,just an observation.
    We went through it in the beginning as well ( there were a couple of hum dingers let me assure you ) but it all settled out as I said.
    I think there a couple of 'newer' members are very sesnitive and still not quite familiar with some styles of the other posters , they take offence faster than the rest and its not quite what they perceived it to be.

    You dont need thick skin , you just need to be able to control what you write. Do your post and then step away for a few minutes , if it still seems the same then post it . But do so in a way that does not initiate insults,jibes or double edged innuendos.

    I honestly do not see what everyone is jumping up and down about lately,truley I dont. It hasn't been that bad...a few blowing steam etc...but not this 'horrible place' or 'under current' . We're just being a normal forum and quite a tame one at that .

    I feel that if you have a problem with a certain member than stay away from them and vice versa and that folks sure aint rocket science

    Gosh, now you've landed yourself in the thick of it Chops.

    Since I've been back I have noticed a lot of anger. I missed a lot of what happened but it really has had an effect hasn't it.

    How long has this forum been in operation now?
    A pessimist sees the glass as half empty;
    An optimist sees the glass as half full;
    A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.

    It is typical though of a lot of forums. This exact thing is happening on another, and usually does every few months.

    Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

    Choppa, you couldn't be perceived as 'the bad guy', you're female. JK.

    Well, I seriously hope that not one person on this forum truly tries to jostle for leadership of the pack. I know that in this case it is just a phase used to describe the feelings here possibly, but we are all equal humans, not a wolf pack that needs a leader.

    I have seen more and more angry comments, retorts etc lately, that came across to me as being rude and totally un-necessary - but maybe it's just that I'm picking up on it more, and didn't notice it so much when I first joined. Who knows?

    I respect your opinion Choppa that as far as you can see there really hasn't been much change, but I also respect the opinions of those who feel there has.

    I think your comment above is spot on - if we could all do this it would be a much nicer place, especially for those who are feeling uncomfortable here lately.

    I agree it is typical. I am yet to be on a forum where there aren't stoushes.

    I am on a Pug specific forum where there are very, very few though. I am not sure what it is, just that people are friendly and no-one personalises their debates. The mods are quick to move as well if there are any comments made that may cause threads to go in the wrong direction.

    Some forums are very aggressive. The forum that Deerhound mentioned in a thread a few days back where Occy, myself and Deerhound and others were members was probably one of the more brutual ones at times as there was very little moderation.

    I also know of a forum that is not open to viewing by the public and can only be entered by invitation and the attacks, abuse and discussions held there closely resemble gutter scum. It is really disgusting to read it.

    That forum is full of people who are scum though. It is certainly not a dog forum. There has been tension since the start. A couple of ppl didn't like chops or myself and I copped most of the abuse. I honestly believe that this is cause I don't have bull breeds. Easier to pick on someone different lol. Anyhoo these posters said they knew all about me etc even though they maintained they didn't know me. This set a trend for their behaviour and IMO it died down because of the ignore facility.

    This round started with that thread which is dead and buried.

    I won't apologise for calling em as I see em cause I do it with the facts in front of me. If more ppl used fact we would be a lot better off.

    Sorry about the formatting - I'm on the iPhone.

    Just curious, does this forum have any mods?? And by mods I mean someone who does look out for inappropriate postings, and not one that ends up trying to run the whole forum the way she/he wants it to be run.
