Towel, call me, you will have to wait till it is on the floor.

Do you have double opening doors? If you do, open them wide and remove yourself from the room and keep the room sealed off to animals. Eventually it should find its way out.

Ok, thanks for that. I am not exactly a bird person. Actually, I have NFI with birds!

Put it outside and took towel off, and it just sat there. Looked to be breathing very rapidly, so placed it in my son's shoe box with the towel. Put box up in back garden, and it flew from box to the branch only a metre or so away.

I would say it is really stressed! I was too. I will keep an eye on it. It is small and browny/grey - think it is a sparrow.

We did have a security door on the back when we bought this place, but OH took it off as we needed Zed to be able to come in and out at leasure. But I have never lived anywhere in my life where there are soooooooo many birds. They will literally be flying around our heads when we step out onto the rear deck. Wow.

Thanks for your help, once again. I panicked watching it thrash itself around, poor thing.

All I did quickly Anne was make sure the door to the staircase was shut so Simba (cat) couldn't get up here.

What can I do in regards to the birds so clse to the house? It truly is unbelievable!

I'm really sorry not helpful but the image of you running around trying to catch the bird is kinda funny.

    Good luck though.

It is horrible to watch that yes. With an injured bird, warmth is the key. A fish tank, deep tupperware container with a cake rack over the top. A towel draped on 3 sides one end, a desk lamp placed close but not close enough to burn the fabric up one end, paper towels in the bottom. The bird needs to be able to get away from the warmth if it feels it is overheating. It then needs to be left alone to hopefully recover in a quiet place.

It's ok Bordeaux. I probably looked like a spastic at the time. A useless psastic at that! LOL. I had Di on the phone so I'm sure she heard how lost I was with what to do!!! She's probably still rolling round on the floor.

You could hang foil pie dishes etc from trees possibly to deter them away from the house. Strips of foil tied on trees, bushes, door handles possibly.
